Issues and finds

Luitte aivan oikein. Tämän pikkupikku osan hinta merkkiliikkeessä oli 28€. SIIS MITÄ VIT….????? Olisi sittenkin kannattanut tilata osa netistä, olisi saanut paljon halvemmalla. Mitä taas opimme tästä…

Sitten iloisempiin asioihin. Kaikki ostokset olivat varsin edullisiakin. Varsin hyvä päivä kirppistelyn osalta siis.

IN ENGLISH
If last week was dedicated to pure laziness, this week has been all about running errands. I got my overlock machine from maintenance, and we finally picked up the car spare part (I will tell more later), did some mailing, searched for Bisto gravy granules (fail), got myself some Duo-eyelash glue (best lash glue ever!) and did some thrifting and food shopping etc.

Let’s return to the car parts. You might just remember the episode with car, including some firemen and mismatch car parts. Well, now we finally had time to pick up the final part we needed to fix our car. We ordered the part before our holiday but due to crazy schedules failed to pick it up until now. I have couple rather strong words about that! If our car would have been just plain old ordinary car we would have got that part for about 3 €. But because the engine is some sort of middle-model we ended up paying TEN TIMES MORE! Yes you read correctly. This teeny weeny part (about 5 x 2 cm) cost us 28€. WHAT THE F….????? We should have ordered it online after all, would have been much cheaper. What do we learn from this…

Then happier things. Today me and my hubby went thrifting. We had to try the new local flea market that was opened to replace one that quit in same location (previous owners retired). I can’t tell yet if I’m going to like it, as much as I did the previous, but atleast the first visit left good taste in my mouth. I found victorian patterns, bowbelt and two pretty dolls that will be used later in one project. And from another flea market we found 20’s/30’s sunglasses for hubby. All finds were also good bargains. Pretty good day for thrifting.

My 9yo daughter and I are busy checking out all the beautiful details like the collar, the buttons and the lovely finishing around the neckline and sleeves. A curtain?????? NO WAY!!!! Desiree – Thank you so much, you make me blush again! Collar is actually readymade children’s collar I found from flea market. I have pile of them still waiting to be used. If you send me your post address I can send you one :D Glass buttons are all little bit different shapes and sizes, they are some sample buttons I thrifted long time ago. And yes, it is curtain again. I love to utilize what ever recycled material I can find and curtain lace is quite often rather pretty and also durable. However it is polyester and when weather is hot it makes me sweat like a piggy. Of course I don’t mind! Feel free to share :D

I just found you through Desiree. You are Brilliant! Between you and Vintage Vixen I have a whole new respect for the lowly curtain. I would subscribe to you if you had a subscribe by email button…

Melanie – Thank you for stopping by, and thanks for your kind words! I added subscribe via email-button :D You can find it on sidebar, under other social media buttons.
Second hand curtains are rather cheap and easy to find here. Vintage curtains also have rather pretty patterns, prints and quality materials. That’s why I love to utilise them when ever I can find pretty curtain. One of my favourite skirts is made of cotton curtain and so is my sewing bag.

I have come over from Desiree’s blog too. Your dress is just beautiful, and so are you! The buttons (and that little brroch) are lovely.
I am about to start trying some dressmaking, but I don’t think I will ever reach your standards!
    Love Curtise xx

Terri – Thanks for popping along :D

pastcaring – Thank you for dropping by. Dressmaking just needs practice practice practice. I started sewing clothes when I was about 13-15 years old (and now I’m almost 40), so I’ve had a lot of practice. And I have also studied that for three years in vocational school :D But you don’t need to worry, I’m sure you’re able to do pretty dresses as well, just practice :D
