EBEW: Monochromatic with shortcuts

Tänään on taas Everybody Everywear-haasteen aika.

IN ENGLISH
Today is Everybody Everywear- challenge again. Theme for this month is monochromatic, choosing one colour and wearing it head to toe. I have to say, these challenges seem to get harder and harder every time. There has been couple which I had to skip because my wardrobe just doesn’t bend that way. Okay, this time I could have gone easy way and choose black (I got plenty of black), but because the sunshine outside is so gorgeous I chose not to wear black.

Even though I have my favourite colours, choosing completely monochromatic outfit was pretty difficult. I just don’t seem to have enough any of my favourite colour. However I was able to put this outfit together, but even then I had to cut some corners. Have to say that Desiree might have influenced my recent selections a bit…
And finally little reminder for myself and my readers: remember to check your vintage heels regularly to prevent shoe disasters and take them to cobbler if needed.

400 metriä kävelyä ja kengät olivat tässä kunnossa. Olisi
ehkä kannattanut vaihdattaa korkolaput aikaisemmin… /
After 400 meters of walking shoes looked like this. Perhaps
I should have taken them to cobblers a bit earlier…

Kaunis asu! Viitta on tosi ihana :) Toivottavasti löydän jostain nätin verhon, koska haluan samanlaisen!

Daisy – Thank you, top was made of old curtain, just hole in the middle and some decoration, thats it. I secured the brooch with bobby pin, why should brooches be only for bodice. And thanks for dropping by!

Elise – Kiitos! Mulla on erilaisia, eri värisiä pitsiverhoja varastossa useita. Hamstraan niitä aina kun löydän jonkun kivan. Niistä on helppo väsätä jotain näyttävää erilaisiin tapahtumiin.

Oh, what a shame about the shoes. I hope you can fix them!

I love the shades of blue you chose to wear–gorgeous, really. There were lots of blue outfits on EBEW today, but none this color, and it goes with your hair wonderfully.

  4. Perfectly lovely. The details and colors are amazing.

Mia – Shoes can be fixed, this is quite ordinary thing to happen with vintage shoes. The sole pads eventually starts deteriorate so they just need to be checked every now and then for damage. I failed to do that this time and they came off when I was wearing them :D
Thank you! When I was planning what to wear I was sure everyone is going for the easy option, black. But now I see everyone was thinking the same and went for blue instead :D I don’t actually like that many shades of blue, but smoke blue is one of them (teal, aqua and turquoise are the others), even though I have lot of blue in my wardrobe. I’m glad I managed to pull something different than other participants :D

      – Thank you :D smoke blue is one of my favourite colours and details in the clothing are handmade by me.

  5. A vision, very dreamy. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a blue cameo before.

  6. Mary says:

This is so pretty! I love the accessories :)

  7. Desiree says:

Awwwww thank you darling!!! You are looking super-gorgeous in that glorious colour – not many can pull that delicate shade of blue off, but my oh my, you are nailing it baby! The cameo is truly glorious and you made the cape out of a curtain? Completely beautiful!!! xoxo

    1. Rhia says:

Thorne Garnet – I think the cameo is made of some sort of plastic, so it’s not real cameo, but I do like the unusual colour :D

Mary – Thank you so much :)

Desiree – I have very pale skin, I think that’s the reason why gray shades of blue suit me. Yes, the cape is made of old curtain. Similar lace curtains are quite common in here and available widely in flea markets and thrift shops. Allthough this colour is rather rare to find, in general. Thank you :D More curtain-clothes in my next post!

  8. Kimbercrafts says:

I love all of the little details of your outfit like the cameo brooch and sequin trim on the cape – lovely!

    1. Rhia says:

Kimbercrafts – Thank you! When I bought the cameo brooch I didn’t even realize it matched with the skirt and cape that I already had. I enjoy having (and making) little details on clothes like sequins or embroidery, those make them more interesting.
