Museokamaa / Museum stuff

Suomi on museoiden luvattu maa.

IN ENGLISH
Finland is the Promise Land of Museums. You can find museums and exhibitions for anything and everything here. Art museums aren’t necessary really my forte, but other kind of museums I love to go to. Smallest museum I have seen is located nearby my hometown Tampere, in a small village called Velaatta and it is built inside a milk platform (milk platform is a small hut where dairy farms used to take their milk churns for dairy to pick them up). Most unusual place for museum which I have seen was a Fire brigade museum in Kuusankoski which was built in a bunker inside a rock.
Yesterday me and my friends drove to Killinkoski Old Factory. There you will find Ribbon Industry museum, Camera museum, Hairdresser exhibition, Toy exhibition and Educational equipment exhibition in the old ribbon factory building in Killinkoski. We didn’t have time to go to the ribbon museum, but Camera museum and educational equipment exhibition were very amusing and more interesting. Educational equipment raised some memories. In the small village school of my childhood they were using old teaching boards, stuffed animals and stinking ancient copy machine that used blue ink. In camera museum we were amused by “travel size” folding camera which was actually about 30 cm high. I recommend museums to everyone. It is fun and educational.

Oh I really love museums too, the quirkier the better for me, I don’t enjoy the stuffy big exhibitions that are very expensive and crowded. The hairdressers and educational equipment museums are just my thing!! You and your friends look like they are having a ball! xo

Desiree – We were having fun :D you get to see such weird things in museums it’s just impossible to have boring time in them. And yes, quirky museums are my favourites aswell. However I would love to go to the Natural History Museum and Brittish Museum in London. I’ve been in Tate Modern in London when they had Frieda Kahlo exhibition there and I loved it!
