Käsityöharrastajien blogosfääri on pullollaan kaikenlaisia neule-, askartelu- ja ompeluhaasteita. Jokin aika sitten ilmoittauduin mukaan Sew Cinematic-ompeluhaasteeseen. Haastetta päsmäröi viisi bloggaajaa: My happy sewing place, Delfinelise, Rhinestones and Telephones, Meg the Grand & Veronica Darling. Ajatuksena on ommella asu jonka inspiraationa on toiminut asu elokuvasta, tv:stä tai teatterista. Aikaa asun toteutukseen on toukokuun loppuun. Innostuin ajatuskesta, mutta ilmoittautumisesta lähtien olen ollut pulassa. Olen yrittänyt miettiä pääni puhki minkä asun haluaisin toteuttaa, mutta en ole keksinyt mitään. Sitten luin Katien postauksen aiheesta. Woody Allenin viimeisin, Midnight in Paris on minulta vielä näkemättä koska Allen ei kuulu elokuvaohjaajissa suosikkeihini. Leffasta kuitenkin löytyy asu jonka ehdottomasti haluan tehdä ja siksi myös leffa on pakko nyt katsoa. Kesä on taas tulossa ja kesämekkoja ei oikeastaan voi olla liikaa. Siksi tämä Marion Cotillardin roolihahmolla nähtävä 20-luvun tyylinen mekko sopiikin haasteen asuksi paremmin kuin hyvin!
Onko kukaan muu teistä arvon lukijat mukana haasteessa ja mitä olette aikoneet ommella?
Crafters blogosphere is full of knit, craft and sewing challenges. Some time ago I decided to attend Sew Cinematic Challenge which is hosted by five bloggers: My happy sewing place, Delinelise, Rhinestones and Telephones, Meg the Grand & Veronica Darling. Idea is to sew a dress which gets the inspiration from movies, tv shows or theater. Time to finish the outfit is till the end of May. I was excited about the idea but since then I have been in trouble. I have tried to think what outfit to make, but couldn’t figure out anything suitable. Then I read Katies post about it. I still haven’t seen Woody Allen’s latest, Midnight in Paris, because Allen isn’t one of my favourite directors. However movie includes the dress I want to create so I also have to watch the movie now. Summer is heading our way and you can never have too many summer dresses. That is why this 20’s style dress seen on Marion Cotillard suits this challenge perfectly!
Anyone of you my darling readers taking part on this challenge and what are you planning on sewing?
En osallistu haasteeseen, mutta tiedän kyllä minkä puvun tekisin! Se tunnetaan nimellä swim dress, vaikka ei olekaan oikea uimapuku. Mä niiiiin halua tuon hääpuvukseni (sitten joskus).
Hehkuvainen – toden totta swim dress :D kaunis puku ja näyttää olevan varsin suosittu googlen hakutuloksista päätellen. Sopisi kyllä hienosti hääpuvuksi. Hääpukuliikkeessä töissä ollessa jännästi huomasi elokuvien vaikutuksen myös hääpukeutumiseen. Tuli nähtyä mm. Taru sormusten herrasta-hääpuku ja monia muita ;)
I don’t do too much sewing anymore except to make repairs to clothing. But I can’t wait to see your recreation of this dress! Sounds like a fun challenge!
Sheila – Challenge is fun, but now I’m just wondering did I bite too large of a piece of a cake here ;) I realized after choosing this garment that all that red trimming is beading, and since I am quite nitpicker when it comes to details, I probably try to make that beading and end up running horribly late with finishing the dress :D but we’ll see how it goes.

Meg – Hi, and thanks for dropping by. I am excited aswell, but a bit worried about the time. Now when I realized the decoration is beading I’m not sure if I have enough time to do the beading. But I will try!
My favorite part of this dress is the collar – so simple but totally elegant. I’m thinking you can get the same effect of the beading with lace; I didn’t even realize it was beading until you pointed it out :)
I enjoyed the movie so much! I had a HUGE grin on my face the entire time he was back in the 20’s!! Allen did a great job recreating the era – not exactly but nostalgically, was perfect.
Barbara – I was amazed to realize how simple the collar actually is. I still haven’t seen the movie so I don’t know how it looks on the back. My favourite part of the dress is those little details on the hip, they look like pocket flaps with button. Lace would be rather good option, I have to think about it because I haven’t even started this dress yet, and to make all that beading would be so time consuming. Perhaps some dyed cotton lace and some beads for details. Thanks for the idea :D
