Olisi tietysti ihan fiksua että testaisi omat tutoriaalinsa ennenkuin postailee niitä rehvakkaasti ympäri nettiä. Näin jälkikäteen varoituksen sana. Älkää tehkö niinkuin minä tein vaan hommatkaa sitä Mod Podgea (kangaskengille kaiken lisäksi sitä kankaalle tarkoitettua Mod Podgea). Olettaisin että se on himppasen joustavampaa kuin tämä s…nan Glossy Accents jota minä käytin. Hyvänä puolena sanottakoon että vaikka korkoni jäivät terassin lautalattian rakosiin useamman kerran kiinni sillä seurauksella että jopa korkolappu jäi sille tielleen niin kimalle pysyi koroissa kuin tauti. Samaa ei sen sijaan voi sanoa kengän muista osista. Tiedä sitten johtuiko halkeilu alla olevasta maalikerroksesta vai itse lakasta, veikkaan kyllä jälkimmäistä. Niiltä kohdin mistä kenkä taipui jalassa, lohkesi myöskin glitteri irti aika kiitettävästi. Ei siis mitään kovin pitkäikäisiä tullut näistä kimallekengistä. Mutta no worries, glitterikenkäkokeilut jatkuvat heti kun saan käsiini purkillisen Mod Podgea.

It would be wise to test your own tutorials before posting them around the interweb. Afterword: Don’t do what I did but get your own jar of Mod Podge (and for fabric shoes the kind of Mod Podge meant for fabrics). I assume it is little bit more flexible than this f…ing Glossy Accents, which I used. Good side on this was that it lasted in the heels really well. Even though my heels got caught between the terrace floor boards so badly I even lost one of my heel piece, glitter was stuck like flu. The same cannot be said about the other parts of the shoe. Don’t know if it was the paint under or the Glossy Accents but glitter chipped and cracked pretty nasty. So these shoes weren’t that longlasting after all. But no worries, my glitter shoe experiments will continue as soon I get my hands on Mod Podge.

Hyvä tietää, jos joskus tulee askarreltua itelleen glitterikenkiä. Muitsaakseni jossain suomalaisessa verkkokaupassa olen tuota ModPodgea nähnytkin, mutta en nyt kuolemaksenikaan muista missä…
Cherise – No mä aattelin kokeilla että jos saisin liimaa törkättyä tonne lohkeemien väleihin ja siten vähän paikattua noita. Ja ainahan voin vetää uutta glitteriä lohjenneisiin kohtiin.
Oh no! I’m so sorry Rhia! Those were so sexy! I’m so sad for those stunning ruby slippers :( I highly recommend Mod Podge and mixing the glitter with it before applying. Our shoes (seven pairs at this point!) are holding up flawlessly, which is amazing since my 8 year old daughter is not exactly gentle on her shoes! I hope you make another pair. They are gorgeous!
Jillian – Actually I wasn’t expecting those to be very longlasting shoes anyway, however the damage was bigger than what I expected after first use. But not to worry. One day I will get my hands on Mod Podge and will make more of glittering darlings :D
Is it not available in Finland?!! I would DIE without Mod Podge!
Jillian – No, not to my knowledge. Perhaps I can find it in some international online shop but I haven’t seen it in any craftshops. No matter how modern society and small world, Finland still is the backside of the world and is considered to be too small of a market for many companies. So we miss out all the fun :D

Have you tried sandpaper/scuffing them before the mod podge? That seems to do the trick. Good luck.
Mrs Tougas – I haven’t tried that, but I didn’t actually have real Mod Podge either. I used other similar product, because ModPodge is not available here in craftshops. I think that was the actual cause for this, product I used wasn’t really meant for this kind of use. But I will try your suggestion next time. Thanks!
