Voihan joulukuu. Miten kiireinen olitkaan. Pääsimme viimein kunnolla tutustumaan lähiseutuun joka vaikuttaa perin maalaiselta, mutta oikein kivalta. Olemme saaneet ihastella talven kauneutta ja rakentaa sen keskelle pesää jonne käpertyä rentoutumaan. Tulevan vuoden toiveista kerroin jo vähän edellisessä postauksessa. Konkreettisesti se tarkoittaa sitä että kohta pitää alkaa miettimään tarkemmin siemenasioita hyötykasvilavaa varten. Varmasti ainakin aiemmassa postauksessa mainitsemani salaatinlehdet, ruohosipuli ja kesäkurpitsa pääsevät alkukeväästä multiin. Hortailun suhteen pitää toistaiseksi tyytyä perehtymään erilaisiin villivihanneksiin ja odottaa kevättä. Niistä eniten kiinnostavat tällä hetkellä nokkonen ja kuusenkerkkä. Tosin kerkkien kerääminen jonkun muun mailta ei kuulu jokamiehenoikeuksiin. Luvan kysymällä toki sitäkin voi tehdä.

Historiallisten pukujen suhteen minulla on jo suunnitelmia. Tämä vuosi, kuten tiedätte, on Suomen 100-vuotis juhlavuosi ja pukuhistoriaa harrastava porukkamme on päättänyt juhlistaa sitä asianmukaisin menoin. Tämä edellyttää 1910-luvun asua vapaavalintaisessa tyylissä. Tapahtumia tulee luultavasti olemaan useampia, joten sekä arkisempi että juhlavampi asu tulevat kyseeseen. Sen lisäksi tiedossa on toki kaikki muut vanhemman ajan historianelävöitys-tapahtumat. Ja ettei homma kävisi liian helpoksi niin tänä vuonna myös Worldcon, maailman suurin scifi-tapahtuma saapuu Suomeen. Että tuota, pukurintamalla piisaa kiirettä. Niistä kirjoittelen ihan pian lisää.

Oh December. How busy you were. We were finally able to properly investigate our local neighbourhood, which seems very rural, but quite nice. We’ve had the opportunity to admire proper wintery weather and build our cozy little nest to curl up and relax. I already told you about my hopes for the coming year in my previous post. In reality that means that soon I have to start thinking about what seeds to buy for the Spring. I’m sure there will be atleast some lettuce, chives and zuccini. When it comes to horta hunting I just have to wait the Spring to arrive and meanwhile learn as much as I can about the wild vegetables. I’m mostly interested in stinging nettle and spruce. Allthough collecting newgrown ends of spruce branches is now allowed without landowners permission. Unlike collecting berries, mushrooms and wild herbs, which is everyman’s right to do.

For historical outfits I already have plans. This year, as you might know already, is the 100th birthday for Finland. Our little historical costumers group has decided to celebrate accordingly. This means I have to have 1910’s outfit in the style of my choise. There probably will be several events along those lines, so both everyday outfit and more elaborate party dress will do. Then there is of course all the other historical events from older eras. And not to make it too easy, the biggest scifi convention, Worldcon is coming to Finland this year too. So, there is quite a lot to do for the costuming this year. I will post more about those plans soon.
