Jostain kumman syystä juhlapukujen määrä vaatekaapissani on kasvanut viimeaikoina hämmästyttävällä tavalla. Vielä pari vuotta sitten omistin oikeastaan vain pari näyttävämpää juhlapukua ja kaikki muut puvut olivat sitten oikeastaan arkikäyttöön tai sellaisia outoja välimallin mekkoja joista ei oikein tiedä että mitä ne ovat. Mutta nyt löytyy juhlamekkoja joka lähtöön. Ja uusimpana isännän synttäreillä ensi-iltansa saanut vihreä-musta jaquard-mekko jonka tuunasin kuuden euron Uff-löydöstä.

Mekko oli alunperin modernihko 90-luvun lopun tai 2000-luvun alun täysipitkä varsin epäpukeva iltapuku. Helmanlyhennyksen, kavennuksen, hihojenpoiston ja pääntienmuotoilun jälkeen siitä sukeutui varsin näpsäkkä 50-luku/pinup-vaikutteinen juhla-asu. Yli jääneestä kankaasta tein isännän uuteen pukuun sopivan plastron-solmion. Ohessa ohjeet näyttävästä ulkonäöstään huolimatta aika helppoon solmioon, joka on helppo tapa uusiokäyttää mekon tuunauksesta ylijäänyttä kangasta tai puvun ompelusta jääneitä tilkkuja. Se on myös helppo tapa mätsätä pariskunnan asut yhteen, olematta liian öklö.

For some reason it seems that the amount of party dresses in my closet have expanded in amazing way. Couple years ago I had only two evening gowns. All other dresses were pretty much casual or weird in-between style that you couldn’t really tell what they were. But now I have party dresses and gowns for pretty much any use. And the latest addition is green and black jaquard dress, found from local charity shop, revamped and used first time on my darlings 50th birthday party.

Originally the dress was quite modern end of 90’s, early 2000’s, full length unflattering evening gown. After shortening the hem, some intakes, removal of sleeves and reshaping the neckline, it looks quite nifty  50’s/pinup style party dress. I used leftover fabric to make matching tie for my sweeties new suit. You can find instructions for this quite showy, but easy to make tie enclosed. It’s handy way of reusing the leftover materials from either revamp or sewing project. It’s also nice way of matching party ensembles for a couple without being too tacky.

had to remove the shoes.

PLASTRON / TIE

1. Leikkaa kankaasta palat
9 x 16 cm jaquardista
32 x 73 cm jaquardista
9,5 x 47 cm jaquardista (kaulan ympäryys
paidan kauluksen päältä mitattuna)
4,5 x 47 cm vuorikankaasta

1. Cut pieces in following sizes
9 x 16 cm of jaquard
32 x 73 cm of jaquard
90,5 x 47 cm of jaquard (neck circumference
measured on top of shirt collar)
4,5 x 47 cm of lining

2. Taita suurin pala keskeltä kaksinkerroin pituussuuntaan ja ompele reunat yhteen,
jätä kääntöaukko. Käännä oikeinpäin ja tikkaa kääntöaukko umpeen.

2. Fold the largest piece in half lengthwise, sew edges together, leave small gap for
turning right side out. Turn and stitch the turning hole.

3. Tee samoin pienimmälle palalle

3. Do the same to the smallest piece

4. Aseta vuorikangas pala vasten jäljelle jäänyttä palaa, tee päihin
laskokset sillä jaquardi-pala on leveämpi kuin vuorikangas.
Ompele reunat, jätä kääntöaukko. Käännä.

4. Place the lining piece against the long piece, make pleats on
short ends because jaquard is wider than the lining.
Sew edges, leave gap for turning. Turn.

 5. Muotoile äsken ompelemasi palan laskostukset ja neulaa paikoilleen.
Silitä kevyesti mutta älä paina täysin litteäksi. Kiinnitä
laskokset paikoilleen muutamalla pienellä pistolla.

5. Form pleats according to your likings and pin them.
Iron slightly, but do not press completely flat. Fix the pleats
on their places with couple small hand stiches.

6. Nyt sinulla ptiäisi olla kuvan mukaiset valmiiksi ommellut kolme palaa.

6. Now you should have three ready pieces according to the photo.

7. Etsi pisimmän palan keskikohta ja aseta se
pienimmän palan päälle ja neulaa paikoilleen.

7. Find the exact middle of the pleated piece and
place that on top of the small piece, pin to place.

8. Etsi suurimman palan keskikohta. Taita pala keskeltä ensin
kaksinkerroin pituussuuntaan ja taita sen jälkeen
reunat takaisin kohti ensimmäistä taitosta.

8. Find the exact middle of the largest piece. Then fold
the piece first in half lenghtwise, then fold the edges
back towards the first fold.

9. Aseta suurin pala kahden pienemmän palan päälle taitokset
ylöspäin.

9. Place the largest piece on top of other two pieces, folds
pointing up.

10. Taita pienen palan yläreuna palojen yli
alaspäin. Neulaa kiinni.

10. Fold the top of the small piece downwards
over all the pieces. Pin to place.

11. Taita suurimman palan oikea reuna keskelle eteen, asettele
kaunis laskos. Taita vasen puoli vastaavasti päälle. Kiinnitä
taitteet muutamalla pistolla.

11. Fold the right side of the largest piece over the front,
form pretty fold. Fold the left side accordingly.
Secure with couple hand stiches.

12. Kiinnitä laskostettujen nauhojen päihin hakaset
kiinnitystä varten.

12. Add hooks and loops at the ends of pleated piece
for closure.

13. Valitse koristeellinen nappi tai helmi koristeeksi. Ennen
tämä solmio olisi solmittu ja taiteltu suoraan käyttäjän päälle
ja kiinnitetty solmioneulalla jota vastaa modernimman
version koristenappi. Minä valitsin valkoisen lasinapin strassilla.

13. Choose decorative button or bead for decoration. In the old
times the tie would have been tied and folded directly on
the wearer and attached with tie pin, which is now
replaced by these readymade ties and decorative button.
I chose white glass button with rhinestone.
