Not many people know that I too, have a tassel hat collecting dust in my wardrobe. Allthough it is a bit different than most. It is stylish silvergray instead of the more common black. (In Finland we have this old tradition amongst Polytechnic students. During Mayday celebrations they wear white hats with black tassels. Freshmen are allowed to wear tassel hat after dunking them into the cold river or sea. There is also similar white hats without tassels, those are worn by graduates from something you might call sixth form college or upper secondary school)<\/strong><\/span> In commercial school this tradition is not that strong, however we do have either silvergray or green tassel hats, rarely seen though. That’s why I wanted to wish you very happy Mayday, wearing my tassel hat and consuming large quantities of mead and rosettes (traditional Mayday snacks, get recipe here<\/a>)<\/strong><\/span>.<\/p>\n
