Christmas has finally packed away. I like so much of all the decorations I just can’t pack them away right after Christmas. However it must be done around Day of Nuutti atleast. Nuutti is a boys name, but also Nuuttipukki is a Finnish Christmas tradition (originally from Sweden though)<\/strong><\/span>. Nuutti”goat” comes on 13th of January to take the Christmas away. Traditionally nuutis were loud masked young men\u00a0(as scary\u00a0as possible, often wearing horns and ugly masks)<\/strong><\/span> going from house to house, demanding beer. Then the people of the house were suppose to give them beer and if not, nuutti might have done some damage. Later kids took over the tradition by wearing fantasy- or other costumes and singing instead of making horrid noises. And they’re getting treats afterwards.<\/p>\n Even though how carefully you check, there is always some leftover decoration that didn’t make it in the wraps. This time I managed to pack away angel snow globe, silver glass hearts and a bag of baubles left from last year. However I noticed after the boxes were carried downstairs storage that one paper star was left ontop of the bookshelf. I had to take it off the window earlier this month when maintenance guy came to fix the broken lock on the window.<\/p>\n I think we have lots of decorations. From my childhood I remember having just one box of Christmas decorations (I wonder if that memory is true)<\/strong><\/span>. Well, we got now three boxes. Too much? Our home is only a very small, so only part of the decorations go up for Christmas. This year the colour theme was black and gold. This year I didn’t buy or make any new decorations, which is rare. I dream of finding really\u00a0old rubber faced, pipe cleaner Christmas elf made by Weiste (Finnish Christmas decoration manufacturer)<\/strong><\/span>.
