1920-luku on meill\u00e4 t\u00e4\u00e4ll\u00e4 Villa Ruosteessa juuri nyt pinnalla, joten blogiin on tulossa aiheesta varmaankin useampia postauksia t\u00e4ss\u00e4 kev\u00e4\u00e4n\/kes\u00e4n aikana. Pohjustetaan aihetta t\u00e4ll\u00e4 puolivillaisella tuunauksella, jonka kirjoittamisen olen aloittanut jo useampia vuosia sitten, silloin kun viel\u00e4 asuimme Tampereella (siksi kuvat vanhasta k\u00e4mp\u00e4st\u00e4)<\/strong>. T\u00e4m\u00e4 kyseinen asu ei itseasiassa koskaan valmistunut, mutta kuviin tekem\u00e4ni piirrokset kertovat melko selke\u00e4sti mit\u00e4 t\u00e4ss\u00e4 olisi tapahtunut. Shokkipinkki kangas ei nimitt\u00e4in oikein ole autenttista 20-lukua, mutta puvun malli on t\u00e4ydellinen t\u00e4h\u00e4n postaukseen ja yksiv\u00e4risest\u00e4 kankaasta n\u00e4kee mallin selke\u00e4sti. Jos siis pid\u00e4t 1920-luvun suorasta laatikkomaisesta tyylist\u00e4 niin t\u00e4ss\u00e4p\u00e4 sinulle yksinkertaiset ohjeet flapper-tyylisen puvun tuunaamiseen. Siluetti oli 20-luvulla hyvin suoralinjainen. Hihat ja hartiat olivat napakasti istuvia, mutta vy\u00f6t\u00e4r\u00f6n kohta oli usein v\u00e4lj\u00e4 lantiolle asti, luoden vaikutelman laatikkomaisuudesta. Helmojen pituudet ulottuivat polvesta puolis\u00e4\u00e4reen, joskus jopa hieman nilkan yl\u00e4puolelle, riippuen miss\u00e4 kohtaa vuosikymment\u00e4 oltiin menosssa, asun k\u00e4ytt\u00f6tarkoituksesta ja sen k\u00e4ytt\u00e4j\u00e4n mieltymyksist\u00e4 (tai moraalista)<\/strong><\/span>. P\u00e4\u00e4ntiet olivat aika pieni\u00e4. Iltapuvuissa saattoi toki olla avonaisempikin p\u00e4\u00e4ntie, varsinkin takana. Usein p\u00e4\u00e4ntie oli muotoiltu jopa vy\u00f6t\u00e4isille tai lantiolle ulottuvaksi v-p\u00e4\u00e4ntieksi, mutta sen alla oli usein kontrastiv\u00e4rinen kangas peitt\u00e4m\u00e4ss\u00e4 aukon l\u00e4hes kaulaan saakka. Tutki 20-luvun pukeutumista vaikkapa Pinterestist\u00e4. Juhlapuvuista l\u00f6ytyy paljon kuvia, koska niit\u00e4 on my\u00f6s s\u00e4ilynyt museoissa paljon. Arkipuvuista kuvia l\u00f6ytyy v\u00e4h\u00e4n v\u00e4hemm\u00e4n, mutta kokeile vaikkapa hakusanoja “20’s vintage fashion plates”. Tai kurkkaa oma Pinterest-kansioni<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

N\u00e4ill\u00e4 tiedoilla onkin jo helppo huomata ett\u00e4 90-luvun mummotyyli j\u00e4ljittelee 20-luvun muotia varsin mallikkaasti. Kirppikset ovat pullollaan mekkoja joita l\u00e4hes meid\u00e4n kaikkien mummot tai isomummot ovat k\u00e4ytt\u00e4neet 90-luvulla ja 2000-luvun alussa. Juuri kukaan ei nyky\u00e4\u00e4n niit\u00e4 halua. Suoran laatikkomainen yl\u00e4osa, pudotettu lantiolinja\/helmasauma ovat nyt auttamattoman ep\u00e4modikkaat. 90-luvun puvuissa tyyli\u00e4 on viel\u00e4 liioiteltu lis\u00e4\u00e4m\u00e4ll\u00e4 enemm\u00e4n v\u00e4ljyytt\u00e4 ja pituutta. Ja tietenkin olkatoppaukset. Pienin muutoksin t\u00e4llaisesta puvusta saa kohtalaisen helposti 20-luvun tyylisen. Valitse joko yksiv\u00e4rinen tai muuten 20-luvun art deco-tyyliin sopivaa graafinen printti. Kukalliset tai 90-luvulle tyypilliset psykedeelisen abstraktisti kuvioidut puvut eiv\u00e4t v\u00e4ltt\u00e4m\u00e4tt\u00e4 anna yht\u00e4 luontevaa vaikutelmaa. Tosin kyll\u00e4 20-luvullakin n\u00e4htiin joitakin varsin villej\u00e4 printtej\u00e4.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sitten vain t\u00f6ihin. Sovita vaatetta, poista olkatoppaukset ja tarkista miten olkalinja, lantiolinja ja hihojen istuvuus asettuvat vartalollasi. Mik\u00e4li olkasaumat roikkuvat niit\u00e4 pit\u00e4\u00e4 hieman nostaa niin ett\u00e4 sauma kohoaa olkap\u00e4\u00e4n kulmaan. T\u00e4m\u00e4 yleens\u00e4 edellytt\u00e4\u00e4 sivusaumojen kaventamista, mahdollisesti my\u00f6s hihojen kaventamista, joten tarkista ett\u00e4 niiss\u00e4 on varaa. Hihapy\u00f6ri\u00f6n pit\u00e4\u00e4 nimitt\u00e4in olla v\u00e4hint\u00e4\u00e4n yht\u00e4 suuri kuin hihan aukko miehustassa. Mieluiten aavistuksen suurempi. Hihat saavat olla etenkin ranteesta napakasti istuvat. Voit toki tehd\u00e4 my\u00f6s t\u00e4ysin hihattoman puvun joka sekin on tyyliin sopiva.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tarkista p\u00e4\u00e4ntien muotoilu. Tyypillisin aikakauden p\u00e4\u00e4ntie on py\u00f6re\u00e4 tai v-p\u00e4\u00e4ntie (katso malleja Pinterestist\u00e4)<\/strong>. Mik\u00e4li helmasauma on kovin alhaalla, nosta sit\u00e4 suurinpiirtein alalantion kohdalle, jossa se sijaitsi 20-luvun puoliv\u00e4liss\u00e4. Valmiin helman tulisi ulottua noin polveen. Toki jos haluat asusta modernimman, voit lyhent\u00e4\u00e4 sen hieman polven yl\u00e4puolellekin. \u00c4l\u00e4 kuitenkaan liioittele, jos haluat pysy\u00e4 l\u00e4hemp\u00e4n\u00e4 autenttista. Tarvittaessa voit viel\u00e4 lis\u00e4t\u00e4 koristeita tai kontrastiv\u00e4rist\u00e4 kangasta. Huivikaulukset, kontrastiv\u00e4riset edustapalat, lantiovy\u00f6t, aplikaatiot ja helmikirjailut \u00a0sopivat tyyliin paremmin kuin hyvin. Jos haluat selvit\u00e4 mahdollisimman v\u00e4h\u00e4ll\u00e4 ompelulla, voit ottaa valmiit kaulukset ja rannekkeet esim 90-luvun valkoisista paitapuseroista, joissa on toisinaan melko koristeellisiakin juttuja. Tarkista ett\u00e4 kauluksen\/rannekkeiden ymp\u00e4ryydet t\u00e4sm\u00e4\u00e4v\u00e4t valmiiseen vaatteeseen. Leikkaa ne irti niin ett\u00e4 rannekkeen\/kauluksen viereen j\u00e4\u00e4 sentti pari saumanvaraa ja harsi ne k\u00e4sin kiinni puvun p\u00e4\u00e4ntielle ja hihansuihin nurjalle.\u00a0 K\u00e4\u00e4nn\u00e4 ne lopuksi oikealle puolelle n\u00e4kyviin.

1920’s is very current decade here at Villa Ruoste right now. So there is probably going to be couple posts about it here during this Spring\/Summer. Let’s start with this sort-of revamp, which I started writing about already several years ago, when we were still living in Tampere (hence the photos from old apartment)<\/strong>. This particular outfit never finished, but drawings I made on these photos show pretty well what was going to happen. Hotpink colour is not particularly authentic colour for 1920’s, but it shows the shape of the dress very well. So if you like the box-shaped style of 20’s, here is easy instructions for making flapper style dress. Allthough, requires some sewing experience because there is no pictures of the making. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 1920’s silhuette was square-like, waistline was dropped to hips. Garments were rather fitting on shoulder and sleeve, but loose on waist, all the way down to the hips, to create the boxy shape. Hem length was from knee to the mid leg, depending on if it was early or late 20’s and how daring the wearer of the gown was. Necklines were moderately small. Evening gowns might have had wider necklines though, especially at the back. Shape of the neckline was often very low v-shape, all the way to the waist or hips even, which was covered with often contrasting coloured chest piece. Research 20’s clothes for example on Pinterest. There are loads of photos of evening gowns, because there is lots of them left, especially in museums. Perhaps not that many photos or pictures of everyday outfits, but you can try search words “20’s vintage fashion plates”. Or check my Pinterest-board<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

When you know the principles of 20’s fashion, \u00a0you can easily see that 90’s granny fashion imitates 20’s quite a lot (atleast here in Finland it did)<\/strong><\/span>. Flea markets and thrift shops are full of dresses, worn by our grannies or great-grannies in the golden era of 90’s and early 2000’s. Box-shaped bodice, dropped waistline\/hemseam, etc are nowadays so very outdated and no-one wants them. In the 90’s they even exaggerated the lines by adding more length and width. And shoulder pads. With small changes \u00a0you can make this kind of dress to look like 20’s gown. Choose dress with solid colour or print that suits 20’s art deco-style graphic prints. Some floral or 90’s psychedelic abstract prints might now always suit to the 1920’s style. All though there were rather wild prints in 1920’s too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And then to work. Try the garment on, remover shoulder pads and check shoulderline, hip\/hemseam, and size. If shoulders are hanging low, they must be lifted up to the corner of your shoulder. This usually requires also intakes in sideseam and possibly also on the sleeve. Armhole on the sleeve must be atleast the same size than armhole in the bodice. Preferably slightly larger. Sleeves can be snug, atleast on the wrist area. You can also make completely sleeveless dress, that works with the era pretty well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Check the shape of neckline. Round or v-shape were the most typical (check Pinterest for styles)<\/strong>. If the hem seam is very low, lift it up to the hip-area. It was there in the mid-20’s. Hemlength should be around the knee-hight. You can make it a bit more modern by cutting it above the knee if you like, but if you want to stay near authentic, don’t go overboard. You can also add decoration or contrast coloured details. Scarf collars, contrast coloured bodice panels, hip belts, applique and beading are very much decade-appropriate. If you want to avoid as much sewing as possible, you can utilize white 90’s blouses. They sometimes had very decorative collars and cuffs. Check that the cuffs and collar match the circumference of the actual dress and cut them off by leaving little bit seam allowance. Then stitch them by hand on the reverse side of the dress on sleeves and neckline. Finally fold them to the right side.
