Sort of by accident butterflies started gathering on our livingroom wall. So I had to bring one butterfly frame all the way from England. On our way to the supermarket we went past charity shop and I saw butterfly collection frame in the window. The other two frames we have are probably made for tourists, assuming because of\u00a0\u00a0the style of name tags, but this newest edition is a whole different thing. Frame is old looking and made of heavy wood, hanger is just a piece of wire, attached by two screws. So it is clearly much older and based on that perhaps even real lepidopterist specimen.<\/p>\n I can’t really explain why butterfly collections are so interesting to me. Something about the shapes, colours and the shimmering in the wings is so very luring. And I have to admit that the historical aspect of collecting butterflies interests me. I recently read that Society of Aurelians was one of the oldest zoological societies in the world. Unfortunately it all came to an end in 1748 when fire destroyed all of their specimens, literature and studies. Members of the society were all able to escape the fire, but the loss of all of their material was so devastating they never got around starting all over. I don’t want to collect live butterflies myself, but if\u00a0I just could find larger frame with loads of colourfull butterflies, I’d be happy.
