L\u00e4mp\u00f6mittari on jatkuvasti 30 asteessa, eik\u00e4 kamalasti tee mieli ajatella l\u00e4mmint\u00e4 syysvaatetusta (l\u00e4ll\u00e4sl\u00e4\u00e4, mit\u00e4s m\u00e4 sanoin, kuulette helteest\u00e4!)<\/strong><\/span>. Min\u00e4 kuitenkin odotan jo syksy\u00e4 kun voin taas pukeutua ihaniin vintagemekkoihini ja kietoutua neuleisiin. K\u00e4sit\u00f6iden tekeminenkin on vilpoisemmalla ilmalla kivempaa. Olen toki nytkin kokoajan v\u00e4s\u00e4nnyt jotain jaksamisen mukaan. 30-luvun neulepuku-projekti<\/a> edistyy hitaasti mutta varmasti. Olen joutunut pariin otteeseen v\u00e4h\u00e4n purkamaan, mutta miehustan kappaleet ovat kohta valmiit. Hihat varmasti valmistuvatkin aika nopeasti. Sitten onkin koko pitk\u00e4 syksy ja talvi aikaa neuloa helmaa ensikes\u00e4ksi (peukut pystyyn ett\u00e4 se valmistuu siihen menness\u00e4!)<\/strong><\/span>.<\/p>\n

Tulevan syksyn inspiroimana tein t\u00e4ss\u00e4 parin illan tuunausprojektin. Ostin alkukes\u00e4st\u00e4 kirpparilta kivan fair isle-tyylisen neuletakin, mutta sen designeri oli halunnut ett\u00e4 vaate kasataan nurja puoli p\u00e4\u00e4lle p\u00e4in. En tykk\u00e4\u00e4 nurjasta neulepinnasta yht\u00e4\u00e4n, eik\u00e4 se mielest\u00e4ni sovi kirjoneuleeseen muutenkaan. Nopealla tarkastelulla totesin ett\u00e4 t\u00e4ss\u00e4 olisi mahdollista toteuttaa vanha kikka eli takink\u00e4\u00e4nt\u00f6. Resorit oli huolellisesti ketlattu kiinni ja saumat oli ommeltu ketjutikill\u00e4.<\/p>\n

Ratkoin auki kaikki saumat niin ett\u00e4 s\u00e4\u00e4stin niihin k\u00e4ytetyn langan. Irrotin napit ja pujotetun vy\u00f6n. Resorit j\u00e4tin paikoilleen p\u00e4\u00e4ntielle ja miehustaan. Olalla annoin resorin olla kiinni, k\u00e4\u00e4nsin vain n\u00e4kyv\u00e4t saumanvarat toiselle puolelle ja ompelin olkasauman takaisin paikalleen. Resorin reunaan tuli tietysti siit\u00e4 pieni muhkura, mutta k\u00e4yt\u00f6ss\u00e4 se ei juurikaan erotu. Ompelin saumat uudelleen kiinni niist\u00e4 puretulla langalla. Yksi ilta meni saumojen purkamiseen ja toinen ilta niiden uudelleen ompeluun. Lopuksi ompelin napit paikoilleen uudelle oikealle puolelle. Ja n\u00e4in meill\u00e4 on tulevaksi syksyksi kauan etsitty fair isle neule-takki. P\u00e4\u00e4ll\u00e4ni ette sit\u00e4 kyll\u00e4k\u00e4\u00e4n tule n\u00e4kem\u00e4\u00e4n ennenkuin kelit t\u00e4st\u00e4 riitt\u00e4v\u00e4sti viilenev\u00e4t.<\/p>\n

Thermometer is continuously on about 30 degrees, so it’s not really a weather for thinking about warm Autumn clothes (I told you, you will hear about the heat wave)<\/strong><\/span>. I am however, waiting for the Autumn when I can wear my pretty vintage dresses again and wrap myself in knits. Even making hand crafts is a bit nicer on cool weather. Allthough, I have been doing little bits and pieces the whole the time, depending my energy level. My 30’s knit dress project<\/a> is getting along slowly. I had to unravel couple times, but bodice is almost finished. I think sleeves will also finish rather quickly. And then I have the whole long Autumn and Winter to knit the skirt for the next Summer (fingers crossed it will be finished by then!)<\/strong><\/span>.<\/p>\n

Inspired by the upcoming Autumn, I had a small revamp project. In May I thrifted rather nice fair isle-style cardigan. However the designer had decided that it needs to be assembled wrong side out. I don’t like the look of the purl side, neither it suits the fair isle-knit very well in my opinion. After quick inspection I realized that I could turn this cardi inside out. Edge trims were tidily sewn with looping method and seams were done with chain stitch.<\/p>\n

I opened all the seams and kept the thread used on them as long bits as possible. I took off the buttons and belt. I left all the trimmings as they were on neckline and buttoning. On shoulder I just ripped the shoulder seam and left the neckline untouched. I turned seam allowances on reverse side and re-seamed shoulders. There is a slight bump on the trimming there, but it doesn’t really show in use. I stitched the seams with the original thread. It took me one evening to rip the seams and another to re-stitch them. Finally I re-attached the buttons and added original belt. And so I have lovely, long searched fair isle cardi for the Autumn. But you won’t get to see it on me before the weather cools down enough.<\/p>\n
