<\/a><\/p>\nWhen I think back to the source of my wardrobe inspiration, I can pinpoint one significant tv-series which has influence my style. Readers about my age can probably remember English tv-series called House of Eliott, from the early 90’s. That series must have been some sort of turning point in my life, even though my actual vintage hobby started much much later. I think that it was that series which really woke up my continuing love for 20’s style and fashion.<\/p>\n
The series happens in the 20’s and the costume design in it has been then and many times afterwards my inspiration. In the story line, two sisters in their early adulthood are left penniless when their father dies. They are completely unfamiliar about their fathers debts and bad financial capabilities and are forced to invent ways to earn some income. Clever sisters are taking advantage of their fathers elaborate and expensive wardrobe, full of silks and quality wools, using it as a material for making new clothes for themselves. Their talent is noticed within their social circles and soon the sisters find themselves at the ownership of a successful fashion house.<\/p>\n
Costumes in the series were fabulously beautiful and sure, in a series about clothing boutique, they must be. \u00a0I have always been especially fascinated by the colourfull and imaginative coats and tunics, seen on the series. And it’s so amusing and exciting to see outfits from House of Eliott in other series or movies. One of my current favourites, Downton Abbey, uses a lot of costumes seen in House of Eliott.<\/p>\n
