Parin kuukauden p\u00e4\u00e4st\u00e4 ollaan jo vuoden puoliv\u00e4liss\u00e4. T\u00e4ytyy sanoa ett\u00e4 Kierr\u00e4tyskeijuhaasteeseen osallistuminen ei ole tuottanut oikeastaan mink\u00e4\u00e4nlaisia ongelmia. Kun teen muutenkin suurimman osan vaateostoksistani kirppiksill\u00e4 ja vintageliikkeiss\u00e4 en ole oikeastaan viel\u00e4 kertaakaan kokenut hankalaksi tai vaivalloiseksi j\u00e4tt\u00e4\u00e4 uusia vaatteita ostamatta.<\/p>\n

Vaikka haasteeseen osallistuminen ei sin\u00e4ll\u00e4\u00e4n ole ollut haasteellista, on siit\u00e4 ollut hy\u00f6ty\u00e4kin. Se on j\u00e4lleen kerran vahvistanut ajatustani siit\u00e4 ett\u00e4 koen massamuodin ja halpatuotannon kerrassaan turhaksi. Muoti itsess\u00e4\u00e4n ei mielest\u00e4ni ole turhaa, mutta se miten muotiteollisuus nykyisell\u00e4\u00e4n toimii on luonnon ja yhteiskunnan kannalta pitk\u00e4ll\u00e4 t\u00e4ht\u00e4imell\u00e4 vaarallista. Olen haasteen my\u00f6t\u00e4 tullut muistamaan j\u00e4lleen sen faktan miten helppoa on ostaa turhaa tavaraa sen kummempia harkitsematta. Itselleni haasteen t\u00e4rkein anti onkin ollut nimenomaan jokaisen ostoksen harkitseminen hieman tarkemmin. Kirppiksill\u00e4 ostoksia tehdess\u00e4 on vaarassa k\u00e4yd\u00e4 t\u00e4ysin sama kuin edullisen huippumuodinkin kanssa, tulee ostettua tarpeetonta kaappien t\u00e4ytett\u00e4 vain koska se on edullista. Entist\u00e4 useammin my\u00f6s kirpputorilla j\u00e4t\u00e4n vaatteen ostamatta koska tajuan etten ollenkaan tarvitse sit\u00e4. Kaikkea kierr\u00e4tetty\u00e4k\u00e4\u00e4n ei tarvitse omistaa Sulo Vil\u00e9nin periaattein: ostin kun halvalla sain.<\/p>\n

Couple months and the year is halfway in. I have to say that taking part in Recycle fairies hasn’t been much of an effort. When I already do most of my shopping in thrift and vintage shops, I haven’t really felt it difficult to leave new clothes in the shops.<\/p>\n

Even though taking part on this challenge hasn’t been that challenging, it has turned out to be useful to me. It has once again strengthened \u00a0my thought about mass fashion and cheap production fashion to be utterly useless. Fashion itself is not useless, but how the fashion industry works nowadays is very dangerous in long terms, for nature and society. I have remembered once more how easy it is to buy useless stuff to fill your closets, without any consideration or hesitation. The best part of this challenge for me has been the realisation that it’s best to consider every item: do I really need it or not. When shopping in flea markets and thrift shops you are in danger of slipping into the same method than in cheap fashion shops. Just buying it because it’s so cheap, weather you need it or not. More often I leave stuff behind, because I just don’t need it, which is a good thing. Buying just because it was cheap is not particularly clever nor sensible, even if it was second hand.<\/p>\n
