Well, here it comes.<\/span><\/p>\n Many people hate tights because they are uncomfortable and impractical. Vintage-enthusiasts usually prefer stockings and garterbelts, however I feel they are equally uncomfortable, especially in winter. That’s why I prefer tights, but I have to say, they are not that comfortable either. Trying to find the perfect pair of tights, I have come to the conclusion that my body is wrong shape for tights. I have never ever seen XL tights being sold on flea markets, and there is no use for me to even try anything else than that. And who was the moron who invented “one size” tights? \nSukkahousuissa on siis minulle l\u00e4hes poikkeuksetta liian lyhyet jalkaosat ja liian korkea housuosa. Lis\u00e4ksi haarakiila on haaroista liian leve\u00e4 ja haarakiilan kiinnityssauman riitt\u00e4m\u00e4tt\u00f6m\u00e4n jouston vuoksi housut kirist\u00e4v\u00e4t reiden ymp\u00e4ryydest\u00e4 ep\u00e4miellytt\u00e4v\u00e4sti . Ja koska joudun ostamaan niit\u00e4 kaikkein suurimpia kokoja jotta s\u00e4\u00e4riosan pituus riitt\u00e4\u00e4, se housuosa on sitten aivan liian suuri jolloin sukkahousut valuvat k\u00e4yt\u00f6ss\u00e4 alas ja niit\u00e4 joutuu nostelemaan jatkuvasti. Muotoilevissa ja tukisukkahousuissa valuminen ei ole yht\u00e4 suuri ongelma koska ne ovat housuosasta napakammat kuin tavalliset sukkahousut, mutta niit\u00e4p\u00e4 ei saakaan talvipaksuuksina eik\u00e4 villaisina. Ja ennenkuin joku neropatti nyt huomauttaa ett\u00e4 kyll\u00e4h\u00e4n niit\u00e4 pitk\u00e4s\u00e4\u00e4ristenkin sukkahousuja valmistetaan. \nMy legs are quite long but also rather thick. Circumference of my calf is larger than general, it’s 43 cm, which makes it very difficult for me to find long boots that fit. This also affects on the tights. Jerseys and knits, of which the tights also are, general feature is that they are stretchy to both directions, length and width wise. This causes that when a knitted tube is being stretched width wise, it gets shorter. And if knit tube is being stretched length wise, it gets narrower. In tights, this causes problems to person like me who has both long and wide legs. All of the stretch goes to the width, so there is not enough length for them to reach high enough. Because the leg-part of the tights is always so short, I have to buy the biggest tights they sell in the shops, otherwise the pant-part doesn’t reach the area where it should be, but hangs on my lower hips and the crotch of the tights hang somewhere around my thighs. Try to walk wearing those, doesn’t work. I have tried.<\/p>\n
\n<\/strong><\/span>The crotch gusset on tights is quite same thing than what crotch hook is on trousers. It allows tights to fit body shape round bottom and thighs. Except that it doesn’t. In most tights the gusset is wrong shape and size. Seams of the gusset should be on the angle where thigh meets the crotch, but in most cases they move over the thigh. When sitting, this seam squeezes inside the flesh, making it feel very uncomfortable. Sometimes the seam is so very tight it squeezes into the skin even when standing and walking. Try imagining what that feels like when sitting. Despite of the too wide crotch gusset, tights are most often too tight on the crotch so that they break in couple days. Holes start to form either on the gusset or right next to the seam on thigh-area. I can’t even think about wearing tights without crotch gusset, they are even tighter and break in one day.<\/p>\n
\nWhy does the waist band always have to be so darn tight and very narrow? Once, by accident, I managed to buy tights with 10 cm wide waist band. They were really comfortable to wear and stayed up quite well. Unfortunately these tights lasted about two weeks and I haven’t found another pair since then. In many tights also the pant-part is so high, I have to pull it up to my armpits. Because of this, waist band starts sliding down towards the natural waist, which causes the whole tights to slide lower. And in the end, the crotch panel is half way of my thighs, travelling towards my knees.<\/p>\n
\nSo basically, almost without exception, all tights are too short on the leg and too long on the pant part. The crotch gusset is too wide and the \u00a0seam is not elastic enough, which is uncomfortable and cause them to break easily. Because I always have to buy the largest tights there is available, to make them fit on the leg, the pant part is way too large. This causes them to slide down in use and I have to lift them back up all the time. Control top tights doesn’t have so much of this problem, but they don’t come in winter thickness nor are made of wool. And before some wiseguy tells me about the tights for longlegged people, yes, I know those are also manufactured. However you can’t buy them from every shop and I don’t always have chance to get them.<\/p>\n
