Itse ihastuin laamapaitoihin uudelleen teini-i\u00e4ss\u00e4 kun muutin pois kotoa opiskelemaan. Silloin k\u00e4ytin laamapaitoja arkipaitoina farkkujen kanssa, ne olivat halpoja ja mukavia. Sitten jostain syyst\u00e4 unohdin ne vuosikausiksi, kunnes nyt vintage-harrastuksen my\u00f6t\u00e4 olen l\u00f6yt\u00e4nyt ne taas. L\u00f6ysin kes\u00e4ll\u00e4 kirppikselt\u00e4 kaksi hurmaavan vaaleanpunaista laamapaitaa joita olen k\u00e4ytt\u00e4nyt nyt liivimekon kanssa arkipaitoina. Talvikelit kun eiv\u00e4t viel\u00e4 ole olleet riitt\u00e4v\u00e4n kylm\u00e4t pitk\u00e4hihaiseen aluspaitaan. Tarina kertoo ett\u00e4 laamapaidan suomenkielinen nimitys tulee saksalaiselta Heinrich Lahmann’lta. Herra Lahmann oli koulutukseltaan l\u00e4\u00e4k\u00e4ri, mutta oli kiinnostunut luontaisl\u00e4\u00e4kinn\u00e4st\u00e4 ja ruokavalioiden vaikutuksesta terveyteen. H\u00e4n perusti 1800-luvun lopulla menestyksekk\u00e4\u00e4n parantolan Dresdenin l\u00e4hist\u00f6lle, Saksaan. Potilailleen tohtori Lahmann ilmeisesti suositteli mukavaa ja v\u00e4lj\u00e4\u00e4 vaatetusta. Kerrotaankin ett\u00e4 juuri herra Lahmann olisi keksinyt tuon laamapaidoissa k\u00e4ytett\u00e4v\u00e4n ohuen puuvillaneuloksen, mutta ainakaan minulle Google ei antanut vahvistusta t\u00e4h\u00e4n tarinaan. Saksankielisill\u00e4 sivuilla ilmeisesti l\u00f6ytyisi asiasta enemm\u00e4n tietoa, mutta omat eritt\u00e4in vajavaiset saksankielen taitoni eiv\u00e4t riit\u00e4 niiden l\u00e4pi kahlaamiseen.<\/p>\n

PS. Laamapaitoja saa muuten viel\u00e4 ihan uutenakin, ainakin t\u00e4\u00e4lt\u00e4<\/a> ja t\u00e4\u00e4lt\u00e4<\/a>. Itse\u00e4ni vieh\u00e4tt\u00e4v\u00e4t enemm\u00e4n nuo alkuper\u00e4isell\u00e4 kiristysnauha-p\u00e4\u00e4ntiell\u00e4 olevat vanhemman malliset.<\/p>\n

When you was a child, did your mum make you wear very fine, white ribbed cotton shirts as underwear, during cold season? Mine did. In Finland they were very popular in the 60’s and 70’s s and they were called “llama shirts” in finnish. Apparently they were popular amongst teenagers at that time, especially home-dyed. \u00a0In my teenage years when I moved from home and went to study, I started using them as daywear, with jeans, because they were cheap and comfy. Then for some reason I forgot them for years, until now, along with the vintage, I have found them again. Last summer I found two charmingly light pink llama shirts from flea market. I have been using them with my pinafore skirt, since the weather has been way too war for long sleeved undershirts. It’s left to be seen if the weather ever goes so cold this winter, that the long sleeved under shirt is needed.<\/p>\n

Story goes that the finnish name, llama shirt, comes from German Heinrich Lahmann (as you probably guessed, pronounciation of the finnish word for llama and his last name is pretty much the same)<\/strong><\/span>. Herr Lahmann was a medical doctor, but he was particularly interested in natural medication and diets. He launched a successful sanatorium at the late 1800’s near Dresden, Germany. To his patients doctor Lahmann recommended loose and comfortable clothes. People say that it was doctor Lahmann who invented the fine cotton rib fabric, used in shirts and underpants. I didn’t find conformation to this claim from the internet, but then again, my skills in German language are not good enough to go through the German websites where you can find more information about him.<\/p>\n
