Itsek\u00e4\u00e4n en juuri v\u00e4litt\u00e4nyt heijastimista silloin kun enemm\u00e4n liikuin jalankulkijana. Mutta siirrytty\u00e4ni autoilijaksi totesin ett\u00e4 asialla on oikeasti v\u00e4li\u00e4. Ja sen huomaa konkreettisesti silloin kun meinaa ajaa ilta- tai aamuh\u00e4m\u00e4riss\u00e4 tummiin vaatteisiin pukeutuneen jalankulkijan yli. Onneksi olen t\u00e4h\u00e4n menness\u00e4 aina ehtinyt jarruttaa ajoissa, kaupunkialueella kun nopeudet ovat yleens\u00e4 aika pieni\u00e4. Kauhunsekaisin miettein kuitenkin odotan milloin onneni (tai paremminkin sen jalankulkijan)<\/strong> <\/span>mahtaa pett\u00e4\u00e4. Joku voi ehk\u00e4 siell\u00e4 ruudun takana ajatella ett\u00e4 noh, omapa on terveyteni. Ei se ihan niink\u00e4\u00e4n mene… Kyll\u00e4 sille yli ajaneelle kuskille j\u00e4\u00e4 siit\u00e4 henkiset traumat. Olen jo vuosia suunnitellut ett\u00e4 hommaan laatikollisen heijastimia ja aina kun tuolla autoillessani n\u00e4en heijastimettoman jalankulkijan, heitt\u00e4isin h\u00e4nelle heijastimen tai pari. T\u00e4h\u00e4n menness\u00e4 suunnitelma on j\u00e4\u00e4nyt toteuttamatta. Sen sijaan nyt aion arpoa lukijoideni kesken kolme itse valmistamaani heijastinta<\/strong><\/span>. En en\u00e4\u00e4 muista ett\u00e4 oliko k\u00e4ytt\u00e4m\u00e4ni heijastinkangas CE-hyv\u00e4ksytty\u00e4 kun sen hankkimisesta on jo aikaa, mutta testasin n\u00e4m\u00e4 heijastimet itse ja ainakin omasta mielest\u00e4ni n\u00e4ytt\u00e4isiv\u00e4t erottuvan hyvin. Muistakaa tarkistaa heijastimia hankkiessanne ett\u00e4 ne ovat CE-hyv\u00e4ksytyt, niiss\u00e4 on riitt\u00e4v\u00e4n suuri pinta-ala ja heijastusteho. Eli kaikki heijastavat koristukset eiv\u00e4t v\u00e4ltt\u00e4m\u00e4tt\u00e4 ole heijastusteholtaan riitt\u00e4vi\u00e4 ollakseen turvallisia. Esim vaatteeseen ommeltu heijastava tere ei ole pinta-alaltaan riitt\u00e4v\u00e4n suuri ollakseen tarpeeksi n\u00e4kyv\u00e4 heijastin.<\/p>\n

\nToday I have very important message for you. During past couple days I have been discussing about reflectors. Or rather the lack of them. Here in Finland (and probably all around the Norther Hemisphere)<\/strong><\/span> Autumn and Winter are very dark times. Pedestrians love to wear dark clothes in the winter but don’t use reflectors, which makes them pretty invisible to drivers in the dark. As a pedestrian you might not realize how difficult it is to notice someone in the dark. I didn’t care much of reflectors myself when I was pedestrian. But that changed when I became driver. I realized it rather realistically in the dark when I almost drove over a pedestrian who was wearing dark cloths, no reflectors. Thankfully I have always managed to stop in time, speeds in the city area are thankfully rather slow. But I am horrified to find out when my luck (or the pedestrians luck rather)<\/strong><\/span> runs out. Someone behind the screen might think that what the heck, it’s my health, not yours. But that is not the case… The driver will probably get mental scars. Or perhaps when the driver tries to avoid hitting the pedestrian, turns to the opposite lane and hits another car or cyclist instead?<\/p>\n

For years I have planed to get a whole boxfull of reflectors and every time when I see I would throw them one, or two. However I have never managed to actually make it happen. But today I will launch a giveaway for three reflectors.<\/strong><\/span> I don’t remember anymore if the reflector fabric has CE-approval, it’s been quite some time ago when I bought it. But I tested these myself in the darkness and I think they are quite visible. However, when you get reflectors, remember to check that they are CE-approved\u00a0(or other similar localized certificate). <\/strong>CE-certificate<\/span><\/span> \u00a0<\/span>confirms that reflector is visible enough and safe to use. Those without any certificate are not necessary large or reflective enough to show properly. For example reflective piping is not large enough to show properly.<\/p>\n
