Yst\u00e4v\u00e4 viel\u00e4 lohdutti ett\u00e4 nyth\u00e4n se n\u00e4ytt\u00e4\u00e4 autenttisemmalta pikkuvikoineen p\u00e4ivineen. Lis\u00e4ksi se on varsin pukeva. Olen haaveillut peplum-helmaisesta puserosta jo pitk\u00e4\u00e4n ja vaikuttaa sille ett\u00e4 saatanpa tehd\u00e4 viel\u00e4 pari muuta.<\/p>\n

Last weekend I was in Turku, having a stage make up workshop and boy was that a hoot. I managed to finish this 40’s inspired blouse just in time for it. It’s been on the making couple months now. You might have seen the fabric earlier here on the blog. I think my estimate of 80’s print viscose went a bit off. I think it’s actually much older, perhaps even original 40’s, because it was less than meter wide. And stupid me ruined in the wash. I always wash thrifted fabrics before use and this one I forgot soaking for a bit too long time. So burgundy bled on the cream areas. Thankfully it didn’t look that bad after the wash. And I’m also a bit upset that I sew buttonholes too far from the edge. But it turned out really cute little number and it’s really wearable, still. My friend also said that now it looks more authentic, with little flaws. And it’s also really flattering on me. I have dreamed of having peplum blouse for so long and it seems that I have to make couple more of them.<\/p>\n

While at it, I decided to share with you this lame-o-tutorial of making pipings. If you can even call this a tutorial. It is rather lame. Well here it is anyway because I wanted to have pipings on this blouse. They are rather cute but not used that much for some reason. And actually they are not that difficult to make at all.<\/p>\n

PIPING TUTORIAL<\/strong><\/span>
\nYou will need:
\nfabric\u00a0(or readymade bias tape)<\/strong><\/span>
\nstring, thickness of your preferance<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

1. Leikkaa kankaasta nauhaa t\u00e4ysvinoon, leveys 3-4 cm riippuen
\nny\u00f6rin\u00a0<\/strong>paksuudesta.\u00a0Vinonauhan pituus saa olla v\u00e4h\u00e4n\u00a0reilumpi\u00a0<\/strong>kuin
\ntarvittavan tereen pituus.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

1. Cut the fabric on bias, width of the bias tape around3-4 cm,\u00a0<\/strong><\/em><\/span>depending
\non how thick string you have. Cut the bias tape\u00a0<\/strong><\/em><\/span>a bit longer than
\nthe actual piping will be.<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

2. Aseta ny\u00f6ri vinonauhan nurjalle puolelle, alkup\u00e4\u00e4h\u00e4n,\u00a0keskelle nauhan

2. Place the string on the reverse side of the bias tape,\u00a0on one end,
\nin the middle along the tape. Fold the bias tape\u00a0in half and stitch the end
\nof the string to the tape\u00a0so you don’t accidentally pull it through.<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

3. Fold the tape in half lengthwise and at the same\u00a0time stitch
\nalong the string as close as you can.\u00a0Use zipper foot or other
\nsimilar foot that\u00a0allows you\u00a0to stitch close.<\/strong><\/em><\/span>

\n4. Piping is now ready for use. If you like you can\u00a0trim the
\nallowance a bit.<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

\n 5. Ompele haluaamaasi kohtaan vaatetta. Saumassa tereen\u00a0saumanvarat

\nhihansuuhun on tereen\u00a0saumanvarat piilotettava jotenkin, esim
\nalavaralla tai\u00a0vain huolittelemalla ne saumurilla ja tikkaamalla
\nn\u00e4kym\u00e4tt\u00f6miin.\u00a0Ommellaan edelleen niin l\u00e4helt\u00e4 ny\u00f6ri\u00e4 kuin vain
\nmahdollista, silloin lopputulos n\u00e4ytt\u00e4\u00e4 parhaimmalta.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

6. Jos tereeseen tulee jatkoskohtia esim hihansuussa,\u00a0aseta tereen
\np\u00e4\u00e4t hieman limitt\u00e4in toistensa p\u00e4\u00e4lle\u00a0niin ett\u00e4\u00a0tereiden p\u00e4\u00e4t j\u00e4\u00e4v\u00e4t
\nommellessa\u00a0saumanvarojen puolelle piiloon.\u00a0Nuoli osoittaa
\np\u00e4\u00e4llekk\u00e4isen kohdan.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

5. Sew the piping where ever you planned on the garment.\u00a0On seams
\nthe piping allowance is between seam allowances.\u00a0If you decided
\nto put piping on the edge of the garment,\u00a0like sleeve edge, you have to
\nhide\u00a0the allowance somehow,\u00a0for example trimming them with
\nserger\/overlock machine\u00a0and then stitching them up so they don’t
\nfold back down.\u00a0Sewing as close as the string as possible gives
\nthe best result.
\n<\/strong><\/em><\/span>
\n 6. If you have to extend the piping on seam or finish them\u00a0off on
\nhemline, you must overlap the ends a bit and\u00a0then fold the ends inside
\ntowards the allowance.\u00a0Arrow points the overlapping spot.<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n
