Mihin se kaunis kes\u00e4 oikein meni? Onneksi ehdittiin viikonloppuna n\u00e4hd\u00e4 v\u00e4h\u00e4n auringonpaistettakin ja \u00a0tehd\u00e4 pieni irtiotto nelj\u00e4st\u00e4 sein\u00e4st\u00e4 kun l\u00e4hdettiin v\u00e4h\u00e4n ajelemaan. K\u00e4ytiin is\u00e4nn\u00e4n kanssa lauantaina etsim\u00e4ss\u00e4 muutamia geok\u00e4tk\u00f6j\u00e4 parin vuoden tauon j\u00e4lkeen. Y\u00f6ksi poikkesimme maalle \u00e4idin luo ja sunnuntaina palasimme muutaman geok\u00e4tk\u00f6n kautta kaupunkiin.\u00a0Paluumatkalla l\u00f6ysimme vanhan sahan rauniot, k\u00e4vimme ennest\u00e4\u00e4n tutulla Keltaisella Talolla, kuvailimme rauniokirkolla ja nuuskimassa autioituneella taukopaikalla. N\u00e4kemist\u00e4 ja tekemist\u00e4 piisasi vaikka emme poistuneet kotoa 80 kilometri\u00e4 kauemmas.<\/p>\n

Olen ennenkin mainostanut mutta sanonpa taas: geok\u00e4tk\u00f6ily<\/a> on eritt\u00e4in kiinnostava harrastus jos tykk\u00e4\u00e4 historiasta ja haluaa n\u00e4hd\u00e4 paikkoja joihin ei normaalisti tulisi poikettua. T\u00e4ll\u00e4kin kertaa t\u00f6rm\u00e4simme \u00a0kauniisiin maisemiin ja 300 vuoden takaisiin historiallisiin tapahtumiin joista ei puuttunut pakomatkoja, vihollisia ja hurmetta puroiksi asti. T\u00e4n\u00e4 vuonna Kostian-virran taistelusta tulee kuluneeksi 300 vuotta ja t\u00e4t\u00e4 historiallista tapahtumaa juhlitaan tulevana viikonloppuna P\u00e4lk\u00e4neell\u00e4, Kostia-tapahtumassa.<\/p>\n

Viikonlopun tapahtuma k\u00e4sitt\u00e4\u00e4 seminaareja, historiallisia kuvaelmia, vanhan ajan markkinoita sek\u00e4 keskiaikaisessa rauniokirkossa j\u00e4rjestett\u00e4v\u00e4n perinnemessun johon yleis\u00f6 pukeutuu ajanmukaisesti. T\u00e4ydellisen ohjelman tapahtumaan l\u00f6yd\u00e4t P\u00e4lk\u00e4ne-seuran kotisivuilta<\/a>. \u00a0Varsinainen juhlap\u00e4iv\u00e4 on vasta 6.10.13 jolloin juhlistetaan isommin ja j\u00e4rjestet\u00e4\u00e4n mm. tuliryhm\u00e4 Flamman esitys rauniokirkolla. Juhlavuotta juhlitaan kuitenkin jo nyt ja sit\u00e4 varten on perustettu mm. erikoisia Kostia-k\u00e4tk\u00f6j\u00e4 geok\u00e4tk\u00f6ilij\u00f6ille. Jokaiseen k\u00e4tk\u00f6\u00f6n sis\u00e4ltyy jokin Pohjan sotaan<\/a> tai Kostian taisteluun<\/a> liittyv\u00e4 tapahtuma tai tarina.<\/p>\n

Min\u00e4 ja is\u00e4nt\u00e4 aloitimme t\u00e4m\u00e4n historiallisen tapahtuman juhlimisen jo kolme vuotta sitten. Silloin k\u00e4vimme Kostian markkinoilla ly\u00f6m\u00e4ss\u00e4 Kostia-kolikon josta teimme matkalaisen joka on nyt kolme vuotta kiert\u00e4nyt geok\u00e4tk\u00f6iss\u00e4 ymp\u00e4ri maailmaa. Sen tavoite oli kiert\u00e4\u00e4 historiallisissa k\u00e4tk\u00f6iss\u00e4 ja palata hein\u00e4kuussa 2013 P\u00e4lk\u00e4neelle juhlimaan Kostianvirran taistelun 300-vuotisp\u00e4iv\u00e4\u00e4. Ihmeen kaupalla kolikko palasi kuin palasikin, matkustettuaan reippaasti p\u00e4\u00e4lle 30 000 km ja se tulee olemaan esill\u00e4 viikonlopun tapahtumassa. Mutta nyt m\u00e4 n\u00e4emm\u00e4 taas jaarittelen. Sit\u00e4 tapahtuu kun innostun jostain. Noh, k\u00e4yk\u00e4\u00e4 itse ottamassa selv\u00e4\u00e4. P\u00e4lk\u00e4ne pikkukylineen on kiinnostava ja kaunis paikka, suosittellen l\u00e4mpim\u00e4sti.<\/p>\n

\nWhere did the summer go? Thankfully we had the opportunity to see atleast little bit of the sun during weekend when we went to do some geocaching again. We haven’t done that for very long time. We dropped by to mum’s place for the night and then returned to town via couple geocaches on sunday. On our way back we found ruins of old sawmill, went for a coffee at Yellow House, photographed Ruin Church of P\u00e4lk\u00e4ne and snooped around in abandoned rest stop. There was lots to do and to see, even though we never went more than 80 km from our home.<\/p>\n

I have said this before, but I say it again: geocaching<\/a> is very interesting hobby for those who love history and want to see places you’d never ever see otherwise. This time we saw some very pretty scenery and encountered historical events about 300 years old, which included escapes, enemies and blood on the ground enough to make puddles. This year is 300th anniversary of the Battle of Kostia Stream and this historical event is being celebrated on following weekend in P\u00e4lk\u00e4ne, in Kostia-event.<\/p>\n

Weekend includes seminars, historical plays, old time market and traditional sunday mass, held in medieval Ruin Church of P\u00e4lk\u00e4ne. Audience always dresses up accordingly to the mass. You can find the full program on Kostia-page<\/a>. The actual date of these events is 6.10.13 when proper party is organized and program includes fire show by Flamma-fire group. However the anniversary is celebrated already now and there has been special group of geocaches published just for the occasion. All of the caches include information about events or stories related to The Battle of Kostia<\/a> or The Great Northern War<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Me and my hubby already started celebrating three years ago when we visited Kostia-event and minted Kostia coin replica. We turned that into Travel Bug that goes around in historical caches of the World and returns to P\u00e4lk\u00e4ne 2013 for the Kostia-event. And miraculously it did, after travelling over 30 000 km! It will be on display next weekend at the event. But now I’m rambling again. That happens when I get excited. Well, go and see for yourselves. P\u00e4lk\u00e4ne and all the little villages nearby are very interesting and pretty, I highly recommend.<\/p>\n
