L\u00f6ysin jokin aika sitten kirppikselt\u00e4 kes\u00e4isen neuleen joka toi mieleeni 30-luvun huolettomat rantalomat, rikkaat vetelehtij\u00e4t (miksi mulle nyky\u00e4\u00e4n tulee kaikesta mieleen rikkaat vetelehtij\u00e4t?)<\/strong><\/span>, Kultahatun ja Hercule Poirotin. Rantalomailu oli muotia ja 30-luvulla naisetkin saattoivat jo k\u00e4ytt\u00e4\u00e4 vapaa-aikana housuja. Leve\u00e4lahkeisia sellaisia. Muodissa olivat nk. rantapyjamat (beach pyjamas)<\/strong><\/span> joissa oli eritt\u00e4in leve\u00e4t ja v\u00e4lj\u00e4t housut ja kevyesti liehuva yl\u00e4osa. Rantapyjama saattoi olla my\u00f6s neulottu haalari niin ett\u00e4 yl\u00e4osa muistutti uimapukua avonaisine selkineen ja alaosan muodosti v\u00e4lj\u00e4t pitk\u00e4t housut.<\/p>\n

T\u00e4llainen kuva mieless\u00e4ni kokosin asun jossa olen luuhannut melkein viikon. Neule on viskoosi-silkkisekoitetta ja tuntuu ihanan pehme\u00e4lt\u00e4. Housut ovat mukavat eiv\u00e4tk\u00e4 kirist\u00e4 mist\u00e4\u00e4n. Ei siis ihme ett\u00e4 en ole halunnut vaihtaa t\u00e4t\u00e4 asua mihink\u00e4\u00e4n muuhun, etenkin kun kaikki muu tuntuu kirist\u00e4v\u00e4n. Aikataulut painavat p\u00e4\u00e4lle ja viikko on ollut kiireinen. Onneksi kohta on juhannus ja voi ottaa v\u00e4h\u00e4n vapaata.<\/p>\n

Tuunasin (ett\u00e4 min\u00e4 vihaan tuota sanaa, mutta onko suomen kieless\u00e4 parempaakaan)<\/strong><\/span> neuletta hieman ett\u00e4 se sopisi 30-luvun tyyliin paremmin. Kirjoitin my\u00f6s t\u00e4m\u00e4n viikon Tamperelaiseen<\/a> (21.5.2012) jutun<\/a> vaatteiden vanhentamisesta. Neuloin ohuesta silkkilangasta nauhan jonka kiinnitin p\u00e4\u00e4ntielle suuren lasinapin kanssa. Nauhan neulomiseen meni noin viikko, paksummasta langasta valmistuisi v\u00e4h\u00e4n nopeammin mutta tied\u00e4tteh\u00e4n te ett\u00e4 olen n\u00e4pert\u00e4j\u00e4. Mit\u00e4 pienemp\u00e4\u00e4, sit\u00e4 enemm\u00e4n tykk\u00e4\u00e4n. Neule sopi t\u00e4ydellisesti yhteen viimekes\u00e4n\u00e4 ompelemieni palazzohousujen kanssa. Rantatyylin t\u00e4ydensiv\u00e4t vanhat, nauhoilla solmittavat espadrillokseni. Pit\u00e4nee kohta ostaa uudet sill\u00e4 n\u00e4iden kantap\u00e4\u00e4t ovat jo kovasta k\u00e4yt\u00f6st\u00e4 aika lintassa.<\/p>\n

\nSome time ago I thrifted summery knit top that reminds me of 30’s carefree beach holidays, rich upper class being lazy (why everything reminds me of rich lazy upper class nowadays?)<\/strong><\/span>, Great Gatsby and Hercule Poirot. Beach holidays were in fashion in the 30’s and even women were able to wear trousers on their free time. Very wide trousers. So called beach pyjamas were popular at that time. They included very loose and wide pants and loose top. Beach pyjama might have been also knitted overalls, so that the top was similar to bathing suit with very open back and bottom was very wide, long pants.<\/p>\n

This kind of image in my head I created outfit that I have been practically living in for the past week (almost)<\/span><\/strong>. Knitted top is viscose-silk mix and feels very soft to the skin. Pants are comfy and cozy, not tight at all. So no wonder I was reluctant to change this outfit to something else, especially when everything else seems pretty tight. Schedules are tight and this week has been pretty busy. Thankfully Midsummer Festival is almost here and then I can have couple days off.<\/p>\n

I revamped the top to suit better the 30’s style. I also wrote article about making modern clothes look older in our local newspaper. (I have been writing for that newspaper for almost two years now, every fourth week.)<\/strong><\/span> I used fine silk yarn for narrow knitted ribbon and attached it around the neckline with large glass button. It took me about a week to knit the ribbon, it would have been faster job with thicker yarn. But you know me, I like things small and fine. The smaller the better. Top goes perfectly with the white palazzo pants I made last summer. Beach style is perfected with my old espadrilles. I think I might have to replace them soon, heels are kind of squashed from all the use.<\/p>\n
