T\u00e4n\u00e4\u00e4n (21.3.2012)<\/strong><\/span> Tamperelaisessa<\/a> ilmestyy juttuni kev\u00e4tvaatteiden pirist\u00e4misest\u00e4. Kirkas kev\u00e4taurinko saa kaiken n\u00e4ytt\u00e4m\u00e4\u00e4n v\u00e4h\u00e4n nuhjaiselta. Koska reilu vuosi sitten alkanut vaatteisto- ja ostok\u00e4ytt\u00e4ytymis-remonttini jatkuu, p\u00e4\u00e4tin etten ostakaan nyt mit\u00e4\u00e4n uutta vaan v\u00e4h\u00e4n vain virkist\u00e4n vanhoja jo olemassa olevia.<\/p>\n

Olen esitellyt blogissa monia eri tapoja tuunata vaatteita mutta huovutuksesta en ole tainnut pukahtaa viel\u00e4 mit\u00e4\u00e4n. Jutun takki on jo varmaankin kymmenen vuotta sitten Uff:lt\u00e4 hankittu ja tuunattukin noin kahdeksan vuotta sitten, mutta se on edelleen yksi eniten kommentoituja vaatteitani ja siten pid\u00e4n sit\u00e4 ehk\u00e4 onnistuneimpana tuunauksenani ikin\u00e4. Tutut ihmiset kysyv\u00e4t ensimm\u00e4isen\u00e4 olenko tehnyt takin itse (pid\u00e4n sit\u00e4 kohteliaisuutena, tottakai)<\/strong><\/span> ja useimmat tapaamani ihmiset kehuvat helman kukkakoristetta.<\/p>\n

Takki on 40-luvulla perustetun kotimaisen Vaato Oy:n valmistama (nykyisin yritys taitaa keskitty\u00e4 kiinteist\u00f6alaan)<\/strong><\/span>, arviolta 90-luvulta. Se on paksua ja karheaa villaa. Kangas on jopa niin karheaa ett\u00e4 en pysty k\u00e4ytt\u00e4m\u00e4\u00e4n sit\u00e4 ilman huivia koska kaulus hankaa ik\u00e4v\u00e4sti kaulaani. Takin malli on kuitenkin ajaton ja tyylik\u00e4s. Hihojen erikoinen leikkaus istuu kauniisti ja simppeli vy\u00f6kiinnitys on piste i:n p\u00e4\u00e4ll\u00e4. Sellaisenaan takki oli kuitenkin hieman platku joten p\u00e4\u00e4tin huovuttaa siihen v\u00e4h\u00e4n v\u00e4ri\u00e4. Vy\u00f6ss\u00e4 olevat puiset, alunperin koivun v\u00e4riset pidikehelmet maalasin kukkien s\u00e4vyyn sopivalla askartelumaalilla. Takki on ollut niin ahkerasti k\u00e4yt\u00f6ss\u00e4 ett\u00e4 nyt se alkaa vaatia jo hieman korjausta. Vuori on paikoin ratkennut saumoistaan ja taskupussit pit\u00e4isi vaihtaa ehjiin. \nToday my article in local newspaper is about refreshening up your spring clothes. Bright spring sun makes everything look a bit drab. Because my wardrobe and consuming renovation is still on, I decided not to buy anything new this spring but just to refresh and brighten up my old clothes.<\/p>\n

I have shown you different ways of revamping clothes but I don’t think I have talked about felting before. Showcase coat was bought probably about ten years ago from local Uff-charity shop and also revamped somewhat eight years ago, but it is still one of my most commented clothes and that is why I think it is probably one of my most succeed revamp ever. People who know me always ask first if I made it myself (I take that as compliment, of course)<\/strong><\/span> and most people I meet say that floral decoration is very stylish.<\/p>\n

Coat is made by Vaato Inc (respectable Finnish clothing company which was started in the 40’s but now I think it’s main field is property business)<\/strong><\/span> from thick rough wool. It is so rough I always have to wear it with scarf otherwise collar will badly rub my neck. However the style is timeless and classy. Unusual cut on the sleeves makes it fit surprisingly well and simple belt is finishing touch. It was a bit plain as it was, so I decided to brighten it up. Wooden beads on the belt were originally natural wood colour but I decided to match them with felted flowers and painted them with hobby paint. I have worn this coat so much it’s now starting to show a bit wear and tear. Lining seams have torn in places and pockets require replacing. I’m definitely going to go through all that effort because this coat is a true treasure. And below you can find fast guide for revamp-felting.<\/p>\n

\nYou need: base for felting (either readymade base they sell in craft
\nshops or foam rubber), felting wool & felting needle. One needle is

\nPlace the fabric\/part of the garment flat on the felting base.
\nMake sure there is no folds and there is only single layer of
\nfabric, otherwise the layers will be felted together. It is difficult to
\nfelt very small clothes because the felting base needs to go inside the garment.
\nYou can pin the fabric to the foam if needed. (My coat is already felted here
\nbecause this time I only want to add some colour to the flower stems.)<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Attatch wool bits at first by pressing them with the needle here and there. Needle
\nmust go through both wool and fabric. When wool piece is attatched press through
\nthe whole area of wool so that it sort of “sinks” inside the fabric. This will
\nmake the wool piece appear smaller so add more wool when and where needed.
\nThis will eventually give you an image. <\/em><\/strong><\/span>Keep up good speed on pressing and
\nstart with simple forms (like my tulips)<\/strong><\/span>.<\/em><\/p>\n
