Olen v\u00e4h\u00e4n pihi ihminen. En mielell\u00e4ni heit\u00e4 mit\u00e4\u00e4n pois ja kirppiksellekin vaatteet p\u00e4\u00e4tyv\u00e4t tiukan seulan j\u00e4lkeen. Roska toki kuuluu roskiin, mutta jos neuleeseen tulee pieni v\u00e4rj\u00e4ytym\u00e4 niin seh\u00e4n ei viel\u00e4 ole roska, eih\u00e4n!? Mulla on lojunut tuolla projektilaatikon pohjalla yksi pesussa v\u00e4rj\u00e4ytynyt neule odottamassa jotain toimenpiteit\u00e4 (ehk\u00e4 jotain kolme-nelj\u00e4 vuotta, eli k\u00e4yt\u00e4nn\u00f6ss\u00e4 siis ei kauaakaan…)<\/strong><\/span>. Toimenpiteet oli kyll\u00e4 aloitettu, mutta innostus taisi jossain kohtaa laskea kuin lehm\u00e4n h\u00e4nt\u00e4. Blogiini tullaan aika usein tahranpoisto- ja tekstiilinhoito-ohjeita etsien joten ajattelin tehd\u00e4 aiheesta nyt v\u00e4h\u00e4n kattavamman postauksen.\u00a0Eih\u00e4n vaate nyt viel\u00e4 yhdest\u00e4 pikkuisesta tahrasta mene kokonaan pilalle. Tiedossa t\u00e4ll\u00e4 kertaa siis v\u00e4h\u00e4n kuvia ja varsin kuivakka postaus, mutta kaikki tiukkaa ja tarpeellista asiaa.<\/p>\n

Ja t\u00e4m\u00e4n sulavan aasinsillan avulla p\u00e4\u00e4semme itse asiaan eli tahroihin. Tahrat on viisainta poistaa heti tuoreeltaan. Silloin ne irtoavat helpoimmin kun eiv\u00e4t viel\u00e4 ole ehtineet imeyty\u00e4 syv\u00e4lle kuituihin ja kuivua niihin kiinni. Mit\u00e4 vanhempi tahra, sit\u00e4 vaikeampi sit\u00e4 on poistaa. Sama tietysti p\u00e4tee muuhunkin likaan. Jos vaatteet puhdistaa heti likaannuttua ei mit\u00e4\u00e4n hirve\u00e4n tujuja tahranpoistoaineita edes tarvita kovin usein. Monille tuoreille tahroille riitt\u00e4\u00e4 liotus astianpesuaineen ja veden liuoksessa tai sappisaippuan ja veden liuoksessa. Esim punaviinitahran pit\u00e4isi tuoreena irrota ihan t\u00e4ll\u00e4 menetelm\u00e4ll\u00e4. Liotuksen j\u00e4lkeen vaate pest\u00e4\u00e4n normaalisti pesuohjeen mukaan. V\u00e4rj\u00e4ytymillekin l\u00f6ytyy nyky\u00e4\u00e4n omat puhdistusaineensa, mutta t\u00e4h\u00e4n neuleeseen ne eiv\u00e4t taida en\u00e4\u00e4 tehota kun on seissyt niin pitk\u00e4\u00e4n odottamassa.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Hankalimpia tahroja ovat voimakkaan v\u00e4riset ruoka-aineet. Ne onkin viisainta huuhdella aivan v\u00e4litt\u00f6m\u00e4sti parhaan lopputuloksen saamiseksi. Osa tahroista vaatii j\u00e4re\u00e4mpi\u00e4 aineita kuten denaturoitu sprii, raskasbensiini tai asetoni. Spriit\u00e4 ja raskasbensiini\u00e4 myyd\u00e4\u00e4n rautakaupoissa, asetonia apteekissa. Kemikaalien kanssa on syyt\u00e4 olla varovainen sill\u00e4 ne ovat herk\u00e4sti syttyvi\u00e4 ja myrkyllisi\u00e4. Ty\u00f6skentelytilan tuuletuksesta kannattaa huolehtia hyvin. Ohessa lista yleisimmist\u00e4 tahroista sek\u00e4 niille sopivista tahranpoistomenetelmist\u00e4. Liotuksen tai esipesun j\u00e4lkeen vaate pest\u00e4\u00e4n tavalliseen tapaan.<\/span>

I am a bit stingy person. I don’t like to throw stuff away and even items I sell will go through thick comb. Rubbish is always rubbish, but if I get small stain in my clothes, it’s not rubbish yet, is it?! I’ve had a\u00a0sweater, which got<\/span>\u00a0stained\u00a0<\/span>in the wash,<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0on the bottom of my revamp pile, waiting for some revamp to be done <\/span>(about three-four years ago, so practically not for long at all…)<\/strong><\/span>.\u00a0 I had already started doing it, however my enthusiasm must have ended at one point. Quite many people end up in my blog searching help for stain removal or other instructions for maintaining clothes. So, I thought why not post about stain removal. Because in my opinion garment is not completely ruined if there is only one little stain. So you’re now facing less photos and long and very dull post, but full of usefull facts.<\/span><\/p>\n

And with this smooth bridge we get to the issue itself, stains. Stains should be removed fresh. Then they still are relatively easy to remove, when they are not soaked deep inside the fibers and are not dry yet. The older the stain, the harder it is to remove. Same thing goes of course with other dirt in clothing. If you clean them straight away you don’t even need any strong stain removal stuff very often. Quite many fresh stains actually come of with just soaking in dishwashing liquid and water or gall soap and water. For example red wine should come off with that. After soaking you just wash the garment as usual. Nowadays you can also get products for colour bleeding.<\/p>\n

Trickiest stains are made by colourful food. Those you should definitely atleast rinse immediately to get the best results. Some of the stains require stronger chemicals like denaturated alcohol, white spirit or acetone. Usually you can buy denaturated alcohol and white spirit from hardware stores and acetone from pharmacy\u00a0(atleast here in Finland, check your local availability)<\/strong><\/span>. Be very careful with the chemicals because they are toxic and highly flammable. Make sure you ventilate your workspace carefully. Here follows list of most common stains and how to remove them. After soaking or prewashing, you wash the garment as usual.<\/p>\n

Coffee, tee, cola, blood: <\/strong><\/span>cold water, dishwashing liquid if needed
\nBlueberry, banana, carrot, beetroot:<\/strong> <\/span>hot water and dishwashing liquid
\nPen, watersolube marker, make up products like lipstick and foundation:<\/strong><\/span> dishwashing liquid or gall soap and water
\nWater resistant marker, shoe polish:<\/strong><\/span> stain remover
\nS<\/span>hoe polish, alkyd paint, oils and greases, butter:<\/span><\/strong><\/span> stain remover, white spirit (paint removal when still fresh, impossible to remove when dried)<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Stain removal with soap:<\/strong><\/span>
\n1. Dampen the stain with either cold or warm water
\n2. Rub the stain with gal soap or dish wash liquid so that it foams a bit
\n3. Keep rubbing until the stain disappears
\n4. Rinse with water<\/p>\n

Stain removal with chemical:<\/strong><\/span>
\n1. Place clean cloth which doesn’t bleed with colour on top of ironing board and \u00a0your stained garment ontop
\n2. Pour some chemical (acetone for example)<\/strong><\/span> on another clean cloth
\n3. Rub the stain with it until the stain comes off
\n4. Allow the garment to dry
\nNOTICE! Always use rubber gloves when handling strong chemicals<\/strong><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Well then, what to do when the milk is already spilled and stain is not coming off. This still doesn’t mean the garment is completely ruined. This is the time when your revamp skills are coming handy. You can cover the stain with almost anything: embroidery, lace, ready made decorations etc. You can also try dyeing, but in quite many cases, dye doesn’t cover the stains. They just show slightly different shade than the other garment.<\/p>\n
