I’ve been creating belle epoque-styled outfit and relating to that I was thinking I could post small tutorial for you. Many of you might know\/remember smock pleating decorations. These timeconsuming decorations were popular on 70’s and 40’s and also a lot earlier, especially before elasthane and rubber bands were invented. They suit nicely on cuffs and necklines. Smocking consists of small identical pleats which are embroidered together with different hand embroidery stitches. What makes this technique very timeconsuming is that before you can start the actual embroidery you have to pleat the fabric by hand. I’m going to show you how to create similar effect but faster.<\/p>\n You can use this as partial decoration for example on shoulder or perhaps as a cuff around the sleeve.
