Pitk\u00e4aikaisemmat lukijat<\/span> muistanevat ett\u00e4 olen muutamia kertoja hehkuttanut edellisen asuintalomme kierr\u00e4tyshuonetta. Vanhat nahkapohjaiset,<\/span> pitk\u00e4vartiset luistimet, arviolta 30-40-luvulta. Luistimissa oli viel\u00e4 tallella alkuper\u00e4iset Nokian kumisuojukset, tosin pahasti murtuneena. Luistimet ovat alunperin olleet valkoiset mutta ne on jossain vaiheessa maalattu harmaiksi. Harmaa maali on kauniisti patioitunut. Luistimina minulla ei ole n\u00e4ille k\u00e4ytt\u00f6\u00e4, mutta niiden kaunis muoto kelpaisi vallan mainiosti ny\u00f6risaappaiksi. Nahkapohjaisissa luistimissa on se hyv\u00e4 puoli ett\u00e4 pohja taipuu jonkin verran. Ter\u00e4t on kiinnitetty ruuvein joten ne on helppo poistaa. Uudet pohjat ne toki tarvitsevat. Halutessaan maalin voisi poistaa asetonilla ja maalata uudelleen jollain muulla v\u00e4rill\u00e4. Jos siis et ole l\u00f6yt\u00e4nyt vintage-saapikkaita niin pid\u00e4 silm\u00e4si auki nahkapohjaisten luistimien varalta sill\u00e4 ne voi kohtalaisen helposti muuntaa saapikkaiksi.<\/p>\n

<\/span>Some of<\/span> my readers might remember that I have been hyping about the recycling room of our old apartment building. Room that any of the tennants can take stuff they don’t need or any of the tennants can collect items they think they could use, for free. I have found so many nice things from there, but I have also left there some stuff I didn’t need anymore. Yesterday I decided to sneak in and see if there was anything interesting. It was almost empty of clothes and I was almost about to leave when I saw a plastic bag in the corner. I had to go and check what was inside and it was worth it because I found this treasure.<\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span>Old leather<\/span> sole ice skates from 30’s or 40’s. They still have the original rubber blade covers on, made by finnish rubber company Nokia (now also manufacturin mobile phones =), although badly dried and torn. They were white originally but at some point were painted light gray. I like the beautiful patinated paint. I have no use for these as skates but they would look awesome as lace up boots. Good thing about leather sole skates is that you can unscrew the blades and turn them into boots. You only need to resole them to get rid of the screw holes. If required, paint can be removed with acetone and then repaint. So if you have failed to find vintage boots you can rather easily turn old skates into a pair.<\/span><\/div>\n
