I tend to make belt loops on all of my dresses. But in most cases you might not have suitable fabric available or thick loops might ruin the look of the dress or might look funny especially if belt is made of something else than dress fabric. But not to worry, because you can make invisible belt loop by hand stitching. Sometimes you see these in vintage dresses or even in modern dresses. Solmu p\u00e4\u00e4h\u00e4n.<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #008080;\"><strong>3. <\/strong><\/span>Pujota lanka niin ett\u00e4 solmu j\u00e4\u00e4 nurjalle puolelle. Vie lanka vaatteen oikealla puolella toiselle neulamerkille ja pujota kankaasta l\u00e4pi. Muodostuu pitk\u00e4 lankalenkki.<\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"color: #008080;\"><strong>1.<\/strong> <\/span>Put the dress on and check the correct place for the belt. Mark it with pins on sideseams and leave 1-3 cm extra room above and below the belt <span style=\"color: #888888;\"><strong>(moving allowance)<\/strong><\/span>. If you might use several different belts with the dress, make sure all of them fit between the pins.<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #008080;\"><strong>2. <\/strong><\/span>Take long piece of sewing thread, use it folded in double or quadruple. Tie a knot at the end.<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #008080;\"><strong>3. <\/strong><\/span>Leave the knot on reverse side. Vie neula lenkkien ali ja kankaasta ulos tulevan langan yli. Kirist\u00e4 jolloin muodostuu pieni solmu. Vie lanka taas oikealle, pujota neula lenkkien ali ja langan yli ja kirist\u00e4. Toista kunnes lankalenkit on kokonaan p\u00e4\u00e4llystetty. Mit\u00e4 tiukemmalle ja l\u00e4hemm\u00e4ksi toisiaan kirist\u00e4t solmut, sit\u00e4 j\u00e4ykempi lenkist\u00e4 tulee.<\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"color: #008080;\"><strong>5. <\/strong><\/span>These loops will be covered with planket stiches from left to right like this: Thread comes out of the fabric above the loops going to the right. Take the needle under the loops and over the thread that comes out of the fabric. Tighten and small knot is created. Thread is above the loops and going right. Again take the needle under the loops and over the thread, tighten. Continue doing that so that the whole loop is covered. This is just a matter of a habit. For lefthanded people it might be easier to work reverse, going from right to left or from up downwards.
