Vaikka sanoin h\u00e4nelle ett\u00e4 aion v\u00e4rj\u00e4t\u00e4 ne, ei h\u00e4n oikein vaikuttanut vakuuttuneelta em\u00e4nn\u00e4n ostop\u00e4\u00e4t\u00f6ksen j\u00e4rjellisyydest\u00e4. Tosin t\u00e4m\u00e4 paljastui mulle vasta kun koko operaatio oli jo ohi ja esittelin lopputulosta. Alunperinh\u00e4n housut eiv\u00e4t olleet juuri j\u00e4rin houkuttelevat. Vaalea beige saa minut n\u00e4ytt\u00e4m\u00e4\u00e4n l\u00e4hinn\u00e4 valjulta k\u00e4ytetylt\u00e4 auringossa haalistuneelta teepussilta ja housujen malli toi ik\u00e4vi\u00e4 fl\u00e4sb\u00e4kkej\u00e4 90-luvulta. Nakkasin housujen<\/b> kanssa koneeseen my\u00f6s yhden haalistuneen lempipaitani saamaan v\u00e4h\u00e4n uutta v\u00e4ri\u00e4 pintaan. Housut ja paita painoivat yhdess\u00e4 v\u00e4h\u00e4n alle 500 grammaa. K\u00e4ytt\u00e4m\u00e4ni musta Nitorin tekstiilien yleisv\u00e4rin yksi paketti riitt\u00e4\u00e4 noin 200g kangasta joten tarvitsin niit\u00e4 kaksi saadakseni riitt\u00e4v\u00e4n tumman lopputuloksen. Housujen kuivuttua kavensin lahkeita, korjasin repsahtaneen vy\u00f6t\u00e4r\u00f6kaitaleen ja vaihdoin napin oikeanv\u00e4riseksi. Vaatteita v\u00e4rj\u00e4tess\u00e4 kannattaa muistaa ett\u00e4 v\u00e4ri tarttuu kunnolla yleens\u00e4 vain luonnonmateriaaleihin ja muuntokuituihin (puuvilla, pellava, silkki, ramie, bambu, viskoosi)<\/span>. Mit\u00e4 enemm\u00e4n tekokuitua vaatteessa on sit\u00e4 vaaleammaksi v\u00e4ri j\u00e4\u00e4. Joihinkin tekokuituihin v\u00e4ri ei tartu lainkaan. Huomioitavaa on my\u00f6s ett\u00e4 vaikka itse vaate olisikin esim puuvillaa voivat tikkaukset ja muut ompeleet olla polyesteri\u00e4 jolloin ne j\u00e4\u00e4v\u00e4t vaaleammiksi. N\u00e4in k\u00e4vi n\u00e4iden omien housujeni kohdalla. Jos haluaa s\u00e4ilytt\u00e4\u00e4 pesuohjeet kannattaa ne ottaa irti v\u00e4rj\u00e4yksen ajaksi sill\u00e4 pesuohjelaputkin v\u00e4rj\u00e4ytyv\u00e4t koneessa. Minulla ne meniv\u00e4t mustaksi. Joissain tapauksissa my\u00f6s vetoketjut ja napit voivat v\u00e4rj\u00e4yty\u00e4, ainakin osittain. <\/span><\/p>\n

Ja sitten<\/b> tuomio. Mit\u00e4p\u00e4 tykk\u00e4\u00e4tte lopputuloksesta? Itse olen sit\u00e4 mielt\u00e4 ett\u00e4 lopputulos on huomattavasti parempi kuin l\u00e4ht\u00f6kohta. Koska kyseess\u00e4 ovat ensimm\u00e4iset pilli-malliset housuni en ole ihan 100% varma niiden soveltuvuudesta omaan vaatekaappiini, mutta katsotaan muodostuvatko ne k\u00e4ytt\u00f6vaatteeksi vai j\u00e4\u00e4v\u00e4tk\u00f6 kaapin perukoille. <\/span>

Some time<\/b> time ago I bought jaquard trousers from flea market. Boyfriend was a bit horrified. Even though I told him I’m going to dye them he wasn’t convinced about my sanity. Although he told me this after when the project was done and I was showing him the result. Originally these trousers weren’t that charming. Light beige makes me look more like old used teabag that has faded in the sun and cut of the trousers brought nasty flasbacks from nineties. However I was able to see the potential of them and because they were a bargain (only 1,20 \u20ac)<\/span> I brought them home. <\/span><\/p>\n

You need:<\/span><\/b><\/div>\n
– clothing of wrong colour<\/div>\n
– washing machine fabric dye<\/div>\n
(weigh your garment and make sure you have enough<\/span>
<\/span>dye for it, check instructions on dye for more info)<\/span><\/div>\n
– salt <\/span>(check the amount from the instructions)<\/span> or with some<\/div>\n
fabric dyes they recommend vinegar for certain materials<\/div>\n

What to do:<\/span><\/b><\/div>\n
– poor the dye on the bottom of the washing machine drum<\/div>\n
– add salt ontop<\/div>\n
– place wet garment on top of salt and dye<\/div>\n
– wash as instructed in the package,<\/div>\n
notice that some materials can’t handle the hot<\/div>\n
temperaturesfabric dyes require<\/div>\n

I also<\/b> threw in with the trousers one of my favourite blouse that was pretty faded. It got colour boost from the black dye. Trousers and blouse were together little less than 500 grams. Fabric dye I used is called Nitor and one package is enough for about 200 grams so I needed two of them to get dark enough result. When trousers were dry I made little intake on trouser legs, repaired waistband and replaced button with correct colour one. When you dye clothing you should remember that colour sticks best to natural fibres (cotton, linen, silk, ramie, bambu, viscose etc)<\/span>. The more artificial fibres clothing has the lighter the shade will be. Some artificial fibres dye doesn’t affect at all. Notice also that even though the clothing itself is f.ex cotton, sewing thread can be polyester so stiching will stay lighter than fabric. This is what happened with my trousers. If you want to keep the washing instructions you should take them off before dying because they take colour aswell. Mine went black. Sometimes even zippers and buttons change colour, atleast partially.<\/span><\/p>\n

And then<\/b> your judgement. What do you think? I think it looks much better than the original. But because these are my first drainpipe-style trousers I am not 100% sure how they suit my wardrobe, but I will have to see if they get any use or are they going to stay at the back of the closet.<\/p>\n
