Is\u00e4nt\u00e4 heti protestoi ett\u00e4 cream ei voi olla gel. Nimest\u00e4 l\u00f6ytyy tuotteen oikea k\u00e4ytt\u00f6tarkoitus mutta muut sanat siin\u00e4 ymp\u00e4rill\u00e4 ovatkin sitten t\u00e4ytt\u00e4 tuubaa.<\/p>\n<p>Onko monimutkaisista nimist\u00e4 oikeasti mit\u00e4\u00e4n hy\u00f6ty\u00e4? Minua kuitenkin kiinnostaa se onko noista pitkist\u00e4 ja monimutkaisista nimist\u00e4 oikeasti mit\u00e4\u00e4n hy\u00f6ty\u00e4 vai onko se vain hifistely\u00e4 tuotteen ominaisuuksista? Onko nimen lausuminen jonkinlainen \u00e4lykkyystesti ennen tuotteen k\u00e4ytt\u00f6\u00f6nottoa? Kosmetiikkateollisuus pelaa l\u00e4hes yksinomaan mielikuvilla ja ihmisten turhamaisuuteen vetoamalla <span style=\"color: #888888;\"><strong>(my\u00f6nnet\u00e4\u00e4n, min\u00e4kin olen turhamainen ja mainosten uhri)<\/strong><\/span>. Antaako vaikeasti lausuttava nimi sen k\u00e4sityksen ett\u00e4 kyseess\u00e4 on loppuunasti testattu huipputeknologinen tuote joka oikeasti toimii?<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #993366;\"><strong>Kertokaa kokemuksianne. Muistatteko ulkoa monimutkaiset tuotenimet vai keksittek\u00f6 niille yksinkertaistetut k\u00e4ytt\u00f6-nimet? Ent\u00e4 millaisia mielikuvia monimutkaiset nimet teille luovat tuotteesta? <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #993366;\"><strong>IN ENGLISH<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\nCouple days ago I was reading finnish Gloria-magazine. It is ok-mag, no complaints about that. There was an article about new cosmetics for the autumn. There was nothing wrong with the products, but the names! So now we don&#8217;t discuss about the quality of the products or if they are effective or not, but their names. What on earth does the manufacturers marketing- and imagebuilding- section think when they create these kind of names for the product. Some of the names can consist even eight difficult words to pronounce. Well, english-speaking people might not have any problems, but what about us finns? Or what do you think about this monster for a name: <span style=\"color: #993366;\"><em><strong>Collagenist Lip Zoom Pastel &#8211; Radiance Lip Balm Volumizer<\/strong><\/em><\/span>? Or this: <span style=\"color: #993366;\"><em><strong>Hydra Zen Neurocalm Extreme Soothing Moisturising Cream-Gel<\/strong><\/em><\/span>? Boyfriend immediately protested that cream can&#8217;t be also gel. Apparently manufacturer thinks it can.<\/p>\n<p>In general when you check names of cosmetics, there seem to be only long and complicated names. Where did all those easy and short ones, like Tokalon-cream or Kissing Potion-lipgloss, go?  Complicated names don&#8217;t give any more information than simple ones and no-one remembers those. Most popular descriptions seem to be words like <span style=\"color: #993366;\"><em><strong><span style=\"font-style: italic;\">soothing<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/span>, <span style=\"color: #993366;\"><em><strong><span style=\"font-style: italic;\">calming<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/span>, <span style=\"color: #993366;\"><em><strong><span style=\"font-style: italic;\">radiance<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/span>, <span style=\"color: #993366;\"><em><strong><span style=\"font-style: italic;\">volumizer<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/span>, <span style=\"color: #993366;\"><em><strong><span style=\"font-style: italic;\">booster<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/span>, <span style=\"color: #993366;\"><em><strong><span style=\"font-style: italic;\">moisturising<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/span> etc. Nowadays those words can be associated with any cosmetic product, atleas if you believe the lisf of effects. Once again it&#8217;s only about certain images and selling images to people. Images are being created with names and competition is hard.<\/p>\n<p>What kind of image you get from product that has name like <span style=\"color: #993366;\"><em><strong>Success Future Wrinkle Filler Perfector<\/strong><\/em><\/span>? Do you automatically think of success and perfectness? For us finns it is always little bit more difficult. Name sounds silly when it&#8217;s being pronounced with finnish accent, but I can&#8217;t even explain how stupid it is when translated in finnish. But the main thing is that two words tell you what the product does, other words around them are just load of rubbish.<\/p>\n<p>Do complicated names actually work? When you go and buy cosmetics, do you remember by heart the whole name of <span style=\"color: #993366;\"><em><strong>Dual-senses Sun Reflects Leave in Protect Shimmer-Gel<\/strong><\/em><\/span>? Or do these products get shorter names that are in general use? Is previous product just called Protect Shimmer-gel in common conversation? Most important thing for manufacturer is of course that people buy the product, not the fact if they can remember the whole name. I am interested do those long complicated names actually work or is it just posh way of saying what your product is suppose to do? Is the name some sort of intelligence test? Cosmetic industry plays people with images and by appealing on their vanity <span style=\"color: #808080;\"><strong>(I admit it, even I am vain and victim of those adds)<\/strong><\/span>. Does difficult names give you the impression that products are highly tested, high-technology products that actually work?<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #993366;\"><strong>Tell about your experiences. Do you remember complicated product-names or do you create easy names for them?
