Vastakommenttina tekisi usein mieli todeta: &#8220;M\u00e4\u00e4rittele kermakakku?&#8221; Lause ei kerro ompelijalle yht\u00e4\u00e4n mit\u00e4\u00e4n sill\u00e4 kaikki h\u00e4\u00e4pukua etsiv\u00e4t asiakkaat sanovat t\u00e4sm\u00e4lleen samalla tavalla. H\u00e4n saattaa muuttaa mielt\u00e4\u00e4n useas<\/span><span style=\"font-family:arial;\">ti ja ompelija<\/span><span style=\"font-family:arial;\"> voi joutua tekem\u00e4\u00e4n heikompaa laatua kuin tahtoisi vain jatkuvien mielenmuutosten vuoksi. Kun vaate lopulta on valmis useiden muutosten j\u00e4lkeen ei se muistuta en\u00e4\u00e4 lainkaan alkuper\u00e4ist\u00e4 suunnitelmaa. That made me think what kind of customers I don&#8217;t appreciate much. Here&#8217;s my sharp customer analysis, sil vouz plait.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family:arial;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-family:arial;\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">1. &#8220;It doesn&#8217;t take long to make a dress&#8221;- customer<\/span><br \/>Customer thinks that it takes only couple hours to sew a dress. Patterns and fabrics appear from thin air. Details and decorations appear on the swing of a magic wand.  Designing, taking measurements, cutting fabrics and planning your sewing order don&#8217;t require any time at all. This customer contacts you about a week before the party asking for a fancy gown with lots of d<\/span><span style=\"font-family:arial;\">etailes. Quite often they also think that it is possible to make a dress without any fittings. Of course it is very difficu<\/span><span style=\"font-family:arial;\">lt to understand that one person doesn&#8217;t have enough time to make beading all over the dress in a week. Especially when this customer isn&#8217;t the only customer in the shop.<\/p>\n<p><\/span><span style=\"font-family:arial;\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">2. &#8220;Customer is a queen and seamstress is a servant&#8221; &#8211; customer<\/span><br \/>This customer assumes that the seamstress works 24\/7 and sleeps at work <span style=\"font-size:85%;\">(if she has time)<\/span>, not to mention lunch breaks.  Seamstress doesn&#8217;t have any free time but she needs to attend the customer six o&#8217;clock in the morning and way past the closing time if customer so desires. Customer thinks seamstress is suppose to squirm in front of him\/her and willingly offer to work even on sunday evening at nine if that happens to be the best time for customer. After all, seamstress is selfemploye<\/span><span style=\"font-family:arial;\">d who needs to get the earnings where ever she can. Of course it doesn&#8217;t matter that seamstress might have alr<\/span><span style=\"font-family:arial;\">eady done six-day week at work and worked overtime every day and she might even want to spend some time with her family.<\/p>\n<p><\/span><a onblur=\"try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}\" href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/2.bp.blogspot.com\/_7ICt0n5OGYg\/Sn82hMkYXOI\/AAAAAAAABzU\/isjjM_qdUWQ\/s1600-h\/ompelimo4.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 267px;\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/2.bp.blogspot.com\/_7ICt0n5OGYg\/Sn82hMkYXOI\/AAAAAAAABzU\/isjjM_qdUWQ\/s400\/ompelimo4.jpg?w=1000\" alt=\"\" id=\"BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5368069224786320610\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><br \/><span style=\"font-family:arial;\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">3. &#8220;Because I know you I can get it practically for free&#8221;- customer<\/span><br \/>Customer is mum&#8217;s friend&#8217;s cousin or ex-colleague&#8217;s mother-in-law. She thinks she deserves good reductions on price <span style=\"font-size:85%;\">(atleast -50%)<\/span> because she made a good choise to become your customer. Unique products and quality handcrafting are valued as much as Hennes &amp; Mauritz mass production items. Main thing is to get as cheap as possible with good reductions so she\/he can brag about it to all her\/his friends. At worst case she is your customer forever and whines about reductions every time based on being your regular customer. Very rarely it comes to this persons mind that as a<\/span><span style=\"font-family:arial;\"> selfemployed your salary is reduced to half if you give 50% reduction on price. How many people would willingly have that kind of salary-reduction? <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family:arial;\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">4. &#8220;Turn me into a top model&#8221;- customer<\/span><br \/>This customer thinks that the seamstress is a magician. Even though you can emphasise your good features and tone down your not-so-good features, even clothing can&#8217;t create miracles. Customer comes in to the shop with a picture of Keira Knightly and wants similar outfit. That doesn&#8217;t mean that she is going to look like Keira Knightly when wearing that outfit. Clothing can&#8217;t make you loose weight, thick legs don&#8217;t turn into skinny ones and double chin and wobbly arms don&#8217;t disappear along with new clothing. I also heard about a customer who wanted a dress from a certain picture but didn&#8217;t take it because it didn&#8217;t look the same on her as it did in the picture where hem was blown by a wind-machine on the background. It is allowed to use your brain, even if you&#8217;re a customer.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family:arial;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-family:arial;\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">5. &#8220;Cover me in a sack&#8221;- customer<\/span><br \/>This is the opposite of previous customer. She doesnt want the dress to be revealing on any spot and has all sorts of agonies about her body. No too open necklines and every dress needs to have sleeves, preferably long ones.  No point on explaining that this model might not be the most flattering for her body, what if we make little bit more slim dress and maybe v-neckline.  There are no words that work on this women of multiple neurosis. She is constantly looking for attention by c<\/span><span style=\"font-family:arial;\">ritisising her own body: &#8221; I&#8217;m so fat, my thighs are too big, my bum is too wide&#8221; etc. Couldn&#8217;t people just be happy about themselves and enjoy life insted of just whining and seeing only ugly things in the mirror? <\/span><\/p>\n<p><a onblur=\"try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}\" href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/1.bp.blogspot.com\/_7ICt0n5OGYg\/Sn82g88QNII\/AAAAAAAABzM\/0BE2WjzBvNY\/s1600-h\/ompelimo3.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 249px; height: 400px;\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/1.bp.blogspot.com\/_7ICt0n5OGYg\/Sn82g88QNII\/AAAAAAAABzM\/0BE2WjzBvNY\/s400\/ompelimo3.jpg?w=1000\" alt=\"\" id=\"BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5368069220591481986\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><br \/><span style=\"font-family:arial;\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">6. &#8220;No creamcake&#8221;- customer<\/span><br \/>Typically this customer is buying wedding dress or other extravagant gown. When asking about the what sort of type she is looking for the answer is always: &#8220;No creamcake&#8221;, meaning really big and crushed hem and big puffy sleeves with cutout-lace decoration, lots of beading and sequins. I would love to answer to them: &#8220;Define creamcake&#8221;. That sentence doesn&#8217;t tell anything to the seamstress, because everybody says exactly like that. When you start making more questions you quite often find out that there can be decorations and actually they even want the train. I think that when talking about creamcake dress they refer to big 90&#8217;s dresses with lots of ruffles, huge petticoats and big puffy sleeves. Newsflash: fashion has gone past those ages ago. It&#8217;s new era with new styles and new dresses. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family:arial;\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">7. &#8220;I don&#8217;t know what I want&#8221;- customer<\/span><br \/>It&#8217;s hard to come to a mutual understanding with this customer because they don&#8217;t even know themselves what they want. They change their minds dozens of times during the process and seamstress might have to do lower quality because of continous changes. When clothing is finally ready it doesn&#8217;t even remotely resemble the original idea. Despite these numerous changes, customer is not very happy, but is too embarrassed to say anything out loud. But the face will tell it all. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold;font-family:arial;\" >How to prevent yourself from being an annoying customer<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family:arial;\">Remember that seamstress might have tight schedule and is not able to take fast orders. Be prepared for couple weeks or even couple months delivery-time. Even skilfull seamstresses  usually needs atleast one fitting before finishing the clothing. The more fittings, the more fitting outfit is for you. <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family:arial;\"> Don&#8217;t assume anything, make sure and ask in advance: schedule, estimate of the price and if you are able to get reductions on price. <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family:arial;\">Don&#8217;t beg for reductions. Selfemployed person&#8217;s salary is based on what money she gets from customer. <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family:arial;\"> Get idea-pictures from magazines or print from internet. With those seamstress gets better idea of what you want and it leaves less space for misunderstandings. <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family:arial;\">But remember that even though you are wearing same kind of dress than Hollywood stars, you are not going to look alike. <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family:arial;\">If you already know what kind of clothing you want, describe it as good as you can. If needed seamstress will make additional questions. Basic expressions like &#8220;basic skirt&#8221; or &#8220;simple style&#8221; don&#8217;t tell much because they mean different things to each person. Better descriptions are for example &#8220;V-necline&#8221;, &#8220;wrist-length sleeves&#8221;, &#8220;knee-length hem&#8221;, &#8220;no pockets&#8221; etc. <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family:arial;\"> If you know that you want, for example gown for party, but you don&#8217;t know what kind of gown, just ask seamstresses opinion. If you disagree with her just tell it politely and straight. If you are uncertain you can always say that you need to think about it for awhile. There is no point in getting done dress that you don&#8217;t like. If you need the dress quickly and can&#8217;t decide, it is better to buy ready-made dress. <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family:arial;\"> Treat the seamstress as your equal. She is professional in her field and not your servant. She has right to have her free time aswell and is not oblicated to work around the clock. Most of all, she is a person too.<br \/><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family:arial;\"> Remember that pictures in magazines are staged situations. Seamstress knows constructions of clothing and knows what can and can&#8217;t be done. Every seamstress have their own specialty where they are especially good. All seamstresses might not necessary do everything. So ask and confirm that too.  <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family:arial;\"> Even though you know the weaknesses of your own body, don&#8217;t beg attention by complaining about them. Seamstress looks at your body totally diffently than you do. She is only interested of how the clothes fit on you and if you are happy about the clothes. She doesn&#8217;t care if your body is tight and trained or round and curvy. If you want to show or hide some parts of your body, you can mention about it, but don&#8217;t whine and complain about it, that doesn&#8217;t help you or seamstress to create fitting clothes for you.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family:arial;\"> Ask if you are uncertain.
