Parsinnan tarkoituksena on jäljitellä alkuperäisen pitsin lankajuoksuja joten periaatteessa parsinta on kuvion kopioimista langan avulla.

IN ENGLISH
First I was going to publish this tomorrow but I’m so excited I’m going to go wild and publish it now. Wohoo! Some time ago me and sweet Cherise were doing some thirft shopping. On that trip I found handy little book. “Maintain your clothing correctly” is published by Helsinki handy craft teacher school in 1950. It is full of handy tips for taking care of your clothes. As a vintage collector I quite often see clothes that desperately need atleast some kind of mending. So I decided to start a series of vintage clothes repairing instructions. You can ofcourse use these instructions for new clothes aswell.

Since I’m just now mending my dreamy lace dress I would like to start with lace. It is actually not that hard as you might think. It is just very timeconsuming and requires eye to tiny detailes. Lace has thinner and thicker spots. Thinner areas are under heavy stress and quite often start wearing out first. That is the reason why holes are usually rather symmetrically on the lace pattern. Idea in mending lace is to imitate the original threads of the lace. So basically you just copy the pattern with thread. You will need: lace coloured thin sewing thread (get thread that is as close to the lace colour as possible), small needle, scissors. In the book they advice to baste the area on thick paper but I found that a bit awkward. I did the repairs just holding the garment in my hands.

Tältä sen pitäisi näyttää.
