Olen v\u00e4h\u00e4n vaivihkaa tehnyt pieni\u00e4 hankintoja kotiin. Monesti olen maininnut, ett\u00e4 meill\u00e4 remontti ja sisustus etenee hitaasti, joten hankintojakin tehd\u00e4\u00e4n melko hitaalla syklill\u00e4. Hankin mahdollisimman paljon k\u00e4ytettyn\u00e4, joten joskus voi asioita joutua etsim\u00e4\u00e4n pitemp\u00e4\u00e4n. No t\u00e4m\u00e4 ensimm\u00e4inen hankinta ei nyt varsinaisesti ollut mik\u00e4\u00e4n pakollinen hankinta, mutta kun polkuompelukone tuli tarjolle, oli pakko noukkia se talteen. Taisin raahata sen kotiin l\u00e4hes vuosi sitten ja se on siit\u00e4 asti odotellut kuistilla sopivaa sijoituspaikkaa. Toinen hankinta oli loppukes\u00e4st\u00e4 iso villamatto. Isossa talossa tarvitaan paljon mattoja. Sali on iso, joten matotkin saavat olla isohkoja etteiv\u00e4t n\u00e4yt\u00e4 hassuille. Lis\u00e4ksi salissa on hirvitt\u00e4v\u00e4n ruma muovimatto, jonka mielell\u00e4ni peit\u00e4n matoilla. Matot luovat kodikkuutta isoon tilaan ja talvella kylmille lattioille. T\u00e4ss\u00e4 matossa on melko paljon kulumaa, joten se oli todella edullinen villamatoksi. Se on my\u00f6s tosi suuri, n\u00e4in kookasta mattoa ei moneen kotiin mahdu, joten halukkaita ostajiakin voi olla vaikea l\u00f6yt\u00e4\u00e4. Kuulin jokin aika sitten ett\u00e4 pitk\u00e4aikainen vintage-kauppa VintagEija lopettaa vuodenvaihteen j\u00e4lkeen. N\u00e4m\u00e4 jugend-verhot l\u00f6ytyiv\u00e4t Eijan valikoimista. Harmittavasti niit\u00e4 oli vain yhteen ikkunaan, mutta ajattelin ett\u00e4 ehk\u00e4 voisin tehd\u00e4 itse toiset samanlaiset toiseen ikkunaan. Toisaalta voisin ripustaa ne my\u00f6s oviaukkoon, mutta ainakin t\u00e4ll\u00e4 hetkell\u00e4 pid\u00e4n niist\u00e4 kovasti tuossa ikkunassa, tosin verhokappa ei oikein sovi verhojen kanssa yhteen. <\/p>\n\n\n

I\u2019ve been making a few small purchases for the house here and there. I\u2019ve mentioned many times that our renovation and interior design are progressing slowly, so we\u2019re making purchases at a fairly slow pace. I buy as many things secondhand as possible, so sometimes I have to spend more time looking for things. This first purchase wasn\u2019t exactly a necessity, but when a treadle sewing machine became available, I just had to grabit. I think I hauled it home almost a year ago, and it\u2019s been sitting on the porch ever since, waiting for the right spot. If I remember correctly, the machine was free, and now I\u2019ve found a spot for it in the living room. Hopefully, at some point, I\u2019ll get to sew with it, too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another purchase I made in late summer was a large wool rug. A big house needs lot of rugs. The living room is large, so the rugs need to be fairly big too, otherwise they look a bit silly. The living room also has a terribly ugly plastic flooring which I\u2019d love to cover up with rugs. Rugs add coziness to a large space and to cold floors in the winter. This rug shows quite a bit of wear, so it was a real bargain for a wool rug. It\u2019s also really large\u2014a rug this big wouldn\u2019t fit in many homes, so it might be hard to find buyers. Personally, I don\u2019t mind wear and tear, on rugs or furniture. It gives objects character and tells stories that new home decor items don\u2019t have.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

My third purchase also ended up in the living room. I\u2019ve been looking for green wool curtains for the living room for quite some time, but I haven\u2019t come across any suitable ones. I heard a while back that VintagEija, a long-standing vintage shop, is closing down after the New Year. I found these Art Nouveau curtains in Eija\u2019s selection. Unfortunately, there was only enough for one window, but I thought maybe I could make another set just like them for the other window myself. On the other hand, I could also hang them in the doorway, but at least for now I really like how they look in that window\u2014though the valance curtain doesn\u2019t really match the curtains.<\/p>\n\n\n

This treadle sewing machine is not the most decorative of the all, but it still would have shame to let it go to waste. From my childhood I remember that in the summer time the treadle machine was carried outside. It was fun and easy to sew weaving materials together in the sunshine. Perhaps I could sew something outside on my summer holiday.<\/em><\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n

Red wool rug is rather worn out here and there, but still very much usable. After all, our house is not brand new either. It’s worn off here and there, more here and less there. Tasteless, but suits to the style, my dad would have jokingly said. He never meant it really, it was the little inside joke of our family. <\/em><\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n

Jossain vaiheessa aion purkaa ruman lastulevykomeron ja siirt\u00e4\u00e4 kirjahyllyn sen paikalle. Sitten sohvakin p\u00e4\u00e4see oikealle paikalle. Sohva pit\u00e4isi verhoiluttaa uudelleen ja pohja vaatisi my\u00f6s uudet satulavy\u00f6t. Edellinen omistaja oli pist\u00e4nyt patjan alle raakalaudan. Sohva ei siis ole j\u00e4rin hyv\u00e4 istua t\u00e4ll\u00e4 hetkell\u00e4. En tied\u00e4 onko minusta sen uudelleen verhoilijaksi, mutta vaalea kullankeltainen\/beige kangas alkaa olla jo melko nuhraantunut, ja onhan se my\u00f6s aika tyls\u00e4 tuollaiseen jugend-sohvaan jossa luultavasti on ollut joku todella vahvan v\u00e4rinen kangas. T\u00e4m\u00e4 sohva oli ensimm\u00e4inen huonekalu jonka ostin t\u00e4h\u00e4n taloon. \/
Long searched green wool curtains are the crown jewel of the living room. Sofa is not in the middle of the window, because there is a closet on the left hand side, which needs access. At some point I will tear the closet down and move the book case on that wall. Then the sofa will finally get to the the proper spot. Sofa also needs new covers and a bit more renovation. Previous owner put a raw plank under the seat cushion, which makes the sofa really uncomfortable to sit at the moment. I don’t know if I’m up to refurbishing the sofa, but the golden beige covers are quite dirty and worn. And it’s a bit dull for jugendstill furniture, which probably had quite colourfull fabric. This sofa is the first furniture I bought for this house. <\/em><\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n
