Mit\u00e4 vanhemmaksi tulen, sit\u00e4 helpommin palelen talviaikaan. The older I get, the more I feel the cold in winter. The air heat pump blows warm air, but the airflow feels cool, especially if you have to stay close to it. For this reason, I have started dreaming of a vest that I could pull on when I feel like I need extra warmth. The vest could also be used outdoors in early autumn or late spring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the 1980s and 1990s, multi-purpose winter coats were in fashion, featuring a thinner lining and a thicker, detachable lining with buttons. I bought one of these at a flea market 10 or even 15 years ago. It didn’t cost very much because the coat wasn’t included. Perhaps it was already considered undesirable as fur at that time. I don’t approve of fur farming and I think it should be stopped altogether, but I still believe that old furs should be used up. I’ve been keeping this detachable lining for years, waiting for the right time to use it, and now that time may have come.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I thought that a slightly Slavic-Scandinavian-style embroidered wool vest would be suitable for indoor use, and I would use this garment as the lining. I have been dreaming of doing a larger embroidery project, but I don’t like doing crafts just for fun. I prefer to have a specific purpose in mind for them. Embroidery would also be a nice little hobby to do while watching TV. Most people probably associate embroidered fur vests with the boho and hippie styles of the 1970s, but for some reason, I think of Edwardian-style skating outfits with puffed sleeves. I don’t know where I saw that kind of image. When I searched for it, I couldn’t find anything similar anywhere on the internet. Just imagine how cool it would look: a wool sweater with mutton sleeves, an embroidered fur vest, a long A-line skirt, and a flirty hat on top of a big hairstyle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The detachable lining is too long as it is, so the first thing to do is shorten it. I would also like to add a little godets to the hem so that the vest can also be worn with historical costumes. Then the bodice pieces needs to be pattern traced so that I can reproduce the vest pieces on the fabric for embroidery.<\/p>\n\n\n
