Olen vuosia sitten tehnyt tuollaisen silkkipukuisen jouluenkelin, joka kaivetaan esiin varastosta joka joulu. Years ago, I made a Christmas angel with silk gown, that we dig out of storage every Christmas. At the time, I couldn’t think of any pretty wings for the angel, so I hastily cut some out of gold-colored crafting fibermesh. The wings are starting to look quite worn, so it was time to update them. I dug out some copper wire that I had been saving for years and got my bobbin lace pillow ready.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Even though metal wire bobbin lace isn’t the easiest thing to do, these wings were completed fairly quickly in a couple of weeks. There are definitely more than enough mistakes in them, but luckily the natural properties of metal wire hide the mistakes almost completely. Pattern is actually a complete angel, but I adapted it a little. I left out the angel’s body and did only the wings. And they turned out great, even if I do say so myself. Now the angel will last at least another 20 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While removing the old, worn wings, I decided to fix the angel itself a little. The neckline of the dress was a little too large to begin with, and it tended to slip off the porcelain bust, exposing the shoulder made of fabric strips and padding. I added a little padding to the neckline so that it would stay in place and not slip. In addition to the wings, I also added a bow to cover the attachment point at the back and a fabric belt to the waist. Christmas can come now. <\/p>\n\n\n

I took the whole dress off. Here you can see how there is kind of step where the porcellain neckline meets the body. That area was showing through the bodice of the dress. I added some padding there around the whole bust, but I didn’t take any photos of it. Under the padded skirt is wire frame. <\/em><\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n
