Olen venytt\u00e4nyt t\u00e4m\u00e4n postauksen julkaisua toukokuusta asti. En halunnut julkaista makkarirempan lopputulosta ennenkuin se olisi ihan viimeist\u00e4 piirtoa my\u00f6den valmis. Mutta totuus on ett\u00e4 pienet yksityiskohdat eiv\u00e4t taitane valmistua ennen joulua. Enk\u00e4 edes tied\u00e4, ett\u00e4 mink\u00e4 vuoden joulusta puhutaan. K\u00e4yk\u00f6 teille muille niin? Remontti tai muu projekti on p\u00e4\u00e4piirteitt\u00e4in valmis, mutta sitten se viime silaus ei tahdo ottaa valmistuakseen sitten mill\u00e4\u00e4n.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

En tied\u00e4 milloin n\u00e4m\u00e4 viimesilaukset tulevat valmistumaan, joten ajattelin ett\u00e4 no eip\u00e4 siin\u00e4 mit\u00e4\u00e4n, julkaistaan se mit\u00e4 julkaistavissa on. Min\u00e4 vastasin l\u00e4hinn\u00e4 suunnittelusta, tapetoinnista ja sisustuksesta. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Makuuhuoneesta on siis purettu ep\u00e4k\u00e4yt\u00e4nn\u00f6llinen, pime\u00e4 ja hankalan mallinen komero ja sen tilalle on tehty pieni syvennys ja pikkukomero henkarivaatteille. Lis\u00e4ksi komeron rakenteiden takaa l\u00f6ytynyt lahovaurio on korjattu. Lahovaurion kohdalla l\u00e4mp\u00f6tila laski talvella miinukselle. Sein\u00e4n sis\u00e4ll\u00e4 oli linnunpes\u00e4. Aiemmat p\u00e4ivitykset keskener\u00e4isest\u00e4 makkarista voi k\u00e4yd\u00e4 lukaisemassa t\u00e4\u00e4lt\u00e4<\/a> ja t\u00e4\u00e4lt\u00e4<\/a>. Lopputulos on juuri sellainen kuin ajattelinkin, viihtyis\u00e4 ja kodikas. Kuten kuvista selke\u00e4sti k\u00e4y ilmi, komerosta puuttuu viel\u00e4 ovi ja puun v\u00e4riset osat odottavat pintak\u00e4sittely\u00e4. Helmiponttipaneli on maalattu pohjamaalilla, mutta v\u00e4ri saattaa viel\u00e4 muuttua my\u00f6hemmin kun muut puuosat on pintak\u00e4sitelty. Komeron ovi tehd\u00e4\u00e4n sormipaneelista jonka ostimme er\u00e4\u00e4n paikallisen perheen remppaj\u00e4\u00e4mist\u00f6n\u00e4. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Huoneesta puuttuu viel\u00e4 vaatekaappi, joka odottaa uusia jalkoja ja hyllylevyj\u00e4, sek\u00e4 kattolamppu joka vaatii kunnostusta. Molemmat odottavat toimenpiteit\u00e4 kuistilla, jonne projektit menev\u00e4t kuolemaan. Minulla on my\u00f6s keskener\u00e4isen\u00e4 lankarullahylly, joka tulee peilin kulmaukseen. Makuuhuoneen keskimm\u00e4inen ovi johtaa kylm\u00e4\u00e4n yl\u00e4aulaan, joten etsinn\u00e4ss\u00e4 on villainen tai samettinen oviverho joka v\u00e4hent\u00e4isi talvella vedontunnetta huoneessa. Huoneesta ovelle katsoen vasemman puoleinen ovi johtaa remppaty\u00f6huoneeseen josta tulee l\u00e4hiaikoina yl\u00e4kerran oleskelu- ja ty\u00f6tila. Oikeanpuoleinen ovi taas johtaa yl\u00e4kerran keitti\u00f6\u00f6n josta tulee v\u00e4liaikainen remppaty\u00f6huone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

EDIT<\/strong> – Katselin tuota tekem\u00e4\u00e4ni videota ja tuli viel\u00e4 mieleeni yksi seikka, jonka haluan mainita erikseen. T\u00e4m\u00e4 on nyt varmaankin se kuuluisa “ep\u00e4suosittu mielipide”. Monissa somen remppatileiss\u00e4 n\u00e4kee miten remontissa puretaan kaikki pintamateriaalit runkoon saakka. Poistetaan koko talon historia ja kaikki eri aikakausien kerrostumat. Meill\u00e4 on kuitenkin p\u00e4\u00e4dytty erilaiseen ratkaisuun. Korjaamme ja poistamme vain sen mik\u00e4 on pakko. Tapetti-hulluna minua kiinnostavat eri huoneista l\u00f6ytyv\u00e4t tapettikerrokset, mutta emme me niit\u00e4 kokonaan poista. Sen verran vain ett\u00e4 voimme n\u00e4hd\u00e4 mit\u00e4 alta l\u00f6ytyy. Ruokailuhuoneessa hirret on otettu esiin yhdell\u00e4 sein\u00e4ll\u00e4. Hopeainkiillotushuoneessa samoin tehtiin vain osittain ja yksi sein\u00e4 j\u00e4i t\u00e4ysin koskemattomaksi. Makuuhuoneessakin niin tehtiin vain yhdell\u00e4 sein\u00e4ll\u00e4, joka purettiin osittain pois. Ja samasta syyst\u00e4 makuuhuoneeseen my\u00f6skin p\u00e4\u00e4tettiin j\u00e4tt\u00e4\u00e4 hyv\u00e4kuntoinen muovimatto ja katon haltexit paikoilleen. Vaikka korjaamme taloa, emme halua poistaa siit\u00e4 sen persoonallisuutta, eik\u00e4 jokaisen pinnan tarvitse olla uutta, t\u00e4ydellisen ehj\u00e4\u00e4 ja ehk\u00e4 jopa persoonatonta. Kodissamme saa talon historia ja el\u00e4m\u00e4 n\u00e4ky\u00e4 kuluneinakin pintoina. <\/p>\n\n\n

I have been postponing publishing this post since May. I did not want to publish the final result of the renovation until it was completely finished, down to the last detail. But the truth is that the small details will probably not be finished before Christmas. And I don’t even know which Christmas we are talking about. Is it the same for you? The renovation or other project is mostly complete, but then the finishing touches just won’t get done.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I don’t know when these final touches will be completed, so I thought, well, never mind, let’s publish what we have. After all, the bedroom is already usable. And just think, we did this together with the hubby! The only thing we needed outside help with was the electrical work, of course, because here in Finland, to hubby’s annoyment, only qualified electricians are allowed to do that kind of work. We also got some consulting help with repairing internal structural rot, but the actual physical work was done by hubby. I was mainly responsible of planning, wallpapering and decorating.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The impractical, dark, and awkwardly shaped closet in the bedroom has been removed and replaced with a small alcove and a small closet for hanging clothes. In addition, rot damage found behind the closet structures has been repaired. The temperature at the area of the rot dropped below freezing in winter. There was a bird’s nest inside the wall. Previous posts about the unfinished bedroom can be found here<\/a> and here<\/a>. The end result is exactly what I had in mind: cozy and homely. As you can clearly see from the pictures, the closet still needs a door, and the wood-colored parts are waiting finishing coat. The paneling has been primed, but the color may change later when the other wooden parts have been tinted. The closet door will be made from leftover “fingerpanel” that we bought from a local family who was renovating their home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The room still needs a wardrobe, which is waiting for new legs and shelves, and a ceiling lamp that needs repairing. Both are waiting for repairs in the lobby, which I call the graveyard of projects. I also have an unfinished shelf that will go in the corner by the mirror. The middle door in the bedroom leads to a unheated upstairs lobby, so I am looking for a wool or velvet door curtain that would reduce the draft in the room during the winter. Viewing towards the main doo, the door on the left leads to the renovation workspace, which will soon become an upstairs study room. The door on the right leads to the upstairs kitchen, which will become a temporary renovation workspace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

EDIT<\/strong> – I watched the video I made and remembered one more thing I want to mention. This is probably the famous “unpopular opinion”. In many social media renovation accounts, you can see how all surface materials are stripped down to the frame during renovation. The entire history of the house and all the layers from different eras are removed. However, we have decided to go different way. We only repair and remove what is necessary. As a wallpaper enthusiast, I am interested in all of the layers of wallpaper found in different rooms, but we are not removing them completely. Just enough so that we can see what is underneath. In the dining room, the logs have been exposed only on one wall. In the silver polishing room, the same was done only partially, and one wall was left completely untouched. In the bedroom, the same was done on only one wall, which was partially demolished. For the same reason, we decided to leave the vintage lino and ceiling haltex-boards in the bedroom in place, as they are in good condition. Even though we are renovating the house, we do not want to remove it’s personality. Every surface doesn’t need to be new, perfectly intact, and perhaps even slightly impersonal. In our home, the history and life of the house can be seen in the worn surfaces.<\/p>\n\n\n
