Meill\u00e4 k\u00e4vi silleen v\u00e4h\u00e4n vanhanaikaisesti ett\u00e4 aloitettiin monta remonttikohdetta yht\u00e4 aikaa. Niinp\u00e4 niiss\u00e4 v\u00e4h\u00e4n kest\u00e4\u00e4. Siksi ajattelinkin ett\u00e4 kerron v\u00e4h\u00e4n mit\u00e4 ollaan suunniteltu yl\u00e4kertaan. Keskimm\u00e4isest\u00e4 huoneesta on siis tulossa meid\u00e4n makuuhuone. Se valikoitui koska se jotenkin vaan tuntui kaikkein luontevimmalta makuuhuoneeksi. Sinne ei paista aamu-aurinko eik\u00e4 ilta-aurinkokaan kuin aivan keskikes\u00e4ll\u00e4, joten aamuisin ei tarvitse her\u00e4t\u00e4 hiest\u00e4 m\u00e4rk\u00e4n\u00e4 eik\u00e4 iltaisin tarvitse menn\u00e4 nukkumaan saunatunnelmissa. Samalla selvisi ett\u00e4 kattolappeiden yhtym\u00e4kohdassa oli lahovaurio joka vaati korjaamista. Nyt kun kattopalkkien ja sein\u00e4n lahovaurio on korjattu, voi v\u00e4hitellen alkaa suunnittelemaan makuuhuoneen ja vessan sisustusta. Makuuhuoneen sisustus on melko suoraviivainen, s\u00e4nky (musta Ikea Brimnes) jossa kiinte\u00e4 y\u00f6p\u00f6yt\u00e4hyllykk\u00f6, pari mattoa, pari taulua, kattovalaisin ja y\u00f6valot molemmille, piment\u00e4v\u00e4 rullaverho ja tavalliset verhot ja jos lipastoilta j\u00e4\u00e4 tilaa j\u00e4\u00e4, ehk\u00e4 joku tuoli. Meill\u00e4 on valmiiksi hankittuna useita erilaisia vintage-valaisimia, jotka tarvitsevat kunnostusta. Lis\u00e4ksi valmiina on vanhoja messinkisi\u00e4 verhotankoja ja yksi lipasto. We did the rookie mistake and started several projects at the same time. So it takes a while until anything is finished. For that reason I decided to tell you a bit about our plans for upstairs. Middle room is going to be our bedroom. We chose that because it just naturally felt like the best option. Sun doesn’t shine in there early in the morning nor very late in the evening (except perhaps in the midsummer). So you don’t have to wake up sweating like crazy or go to sleep in very hot room. The noise from road doesn’t really bother in there. It’s got easy access straight from the stairs and it’s got handy access to other rooms upstairs, if needed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We started the bedroom reno by taking down disgusting, dark and very impractical doorless closet\/storage room. While doing that we realised that there was rot cause by water damage on the beams which connect two roof slopes. Some beams required replacing. We already kind of knew this, because of the mold sniffer dog investigation done before we bought the house. No wonder the room went on minus temperatures during winter. Thankfully all materials were dry, so we just needed to remove rotted beams and renew the insulations. New inside wall will be built where the back of the closet used to be. On the bedroom side, there will be small wardrobe and space for drawers. On the other side of the new wall, in old alcove, will be dry toilet and more storage space for clothes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now, when the rot damage has been repaired, I can start planning the interior of the bedroom and toilet. Bedroom is quite straight forward, bed with attached nighttables (black Ikea Brimnes), couple carpets, couple pictures on the wall, ceiling light and night lights for both, blackout curtain and ordinary curtains and if there is any room left after we put the drawers, perhaps a chair. We already have several vintage lamps, which need repairing. We also have brass curtain rods and one drawer. We also have wardrobe, but unfortunately I don’t think there is no room for it in the bedroom. I am looking for romantic, a bit bohemic vintage athmosphere. I want the bedroom to be cozy, calm nest, where it’s lovely and safe to relax and calm feeling, while rain is making music on the roof. Bedroom moodboard<\/a> in Pinterest. Toilet wallpaper however, is already chosen and ordered. Toilet has low ceiling and it’s funny in shape. We chose to have dry toilet for our second toilet upstairs, because it’s ecological, saving water and money. So we don’t need plumbing nor running water in there. Only thing we need is socket for fan. Separett Tiny separates the solid and liquid matter and our job is to compost the solid and get rid of the liquid matter. For cleaning hands we will use carried water either from container with a tap or from jug. Against my normal principals, I accepted hubby’s suggestion of vinyl or laminate flooring. We already looked at the options and grayish or light brown oak laminates look actually pretty acceptable. They seem pretty realistic these days. Because the ceiling is very low, our only option for lighting is ceiling sconces. I have to say that Finnish selection for lamps is pretty… well, boring. Every shop has plenty of options for modern, futuristic and simple Scandinavian styles. But if you are looking for something for vintage style or unusual options, then the difficulty level goes up times ten. Or the price tag is astronomical. Most of the furniture and interior decoration for bedroom and second toilet we already have. I might however mull things over when the surface materials are in place. The interior decoration of the whole house is still changing all the time when renovation proceeds. Bedroom is still very much unfinished, because at the moment we need to concentrate on more urgent matters like outside wall. But it’s finally starting to look like we might actually have real bedroom this winter! We just have to get the air-source heat pump and choose the wallpaper. <\/p>\n\n\n

Oh yes, we already have one toilet upstairs. This charming facility has been taken out of use sometime in the 80’s when they have cut the water pipes to this room. Plumbing malfunction ended the use of this. Styling doesn’t really invite using it anyway. At the moment we are using it as storage which neither of us enjoys going to. Upstairs dry toilet will have greenish Ciara Hisae- wallpaper. I know, it’s vinylcovered, but in the toilet (even if it’s one without running water) I’d rather have surfaces I can wipe clean. The washcabinet, which we bought for the gramophone, will be moving upstairs, back to it’s original use, stand for the washbasin. Separet Tiny is on the more stylish end of dry toilets.
