Yritin tehd\u00e4 valinnan ennakkoluulottomasti, mutta toki siihen vaikutti my\u00f6skin tekstiilien soveltuvuus tarkoitukseen. Tein kietaisuhameesta k\u00e4\u00e4nnett\u00e4v\u00e4n, jolloin kummallakin puolella on omanlaisensa ilme. Kaikki kankaat ovat secondhand-ostoksia. Raidallinen hamekangas taitaa olla uusin hankinta ja vy\u00f6t\u00e4r\u00f6kaitaleen harmaa liituraita vanhinta varastoa. Hame on etuosasta kaksinkertainen kuten kietaisuhameet yleens\u00e4 ovat. Laskostus on takapainotteinen, eteen en laittanut laskoksia. Vy\u00f6t\u00e4r\u00f6kaitale on leve\u00e4mpi kuin mit\u00e4 yleens\u00e4 suosin ja siin\u00e4 on keskell\u00e4 takana aukko solmimisnauhalle. I follow this entrepreneur on instagram, who sells clothing patterns based on Korean hanbok. Sara Kim draws inspiration<\/a> for her designs from her korean background. I am fascinated by the colours and layers of hanboks and also the simplicity and carefull designs of Sara’s garments. Many oriental cultures like Japan and South Korea, know how to combine colours and patterns, in fresh and candid way. In reality they might be very thoughtfully put together in a way which compliment each other brilliantly. I admire that skill enormously, because I seem to lack that skill completely. Mostly I choose very safe and modest combinations or keep with just single colour of pattern all together. On the other hand, it’s not easy to make fabulous pattern combinations here, because Finnish and western pattern selection is pretty boring compared to for example what fabrics are available in Japan. Fabrics to adults are mostly stripes, plaids, polkadot and small florals with hint of digital prints. Rest of the patterns tend to be just for kids, like teddy bears, cars and cartoon characters. Not that there is anything wrong with them, some of us just don’t want to use those for our own clothing. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Inspired by hanboks and Sara’s style, I wanted to create new winter skirt, which would combine recycling, spirit of hanbok-style and nordic folk costume traditions. So I digged deep into my fabric stash and found fabrics I would like to combine. I tried to be candid with my choises, but also the suitability of the material affected my choises. I made this wrap skirt reversible, so each side have it’s own look. All fabrics used are second hand. Gray striped skirt fabric is probably the newest purchase and dark gray pinstripe is the oldest stash. Skirt is double layers in front, like most wrap skirts are. Pleating is mostly at the back, I didn’t want them in front. Waistband is wider than I usually like and it’s got opening at the center back for the ribbon. It turned out fun garment, but it requires non-static slip underneath. <\/p>\n\n\n
