Sen perusteella pystyin tekem\u00e4\u00e4n muutoksia reseptiin. Edelliskerralla niit\u00e4 hulahti seokseen hiukan yli puolet, joten t\u00e4ll\u00e4 kertaa k\u00e4ytin loput mit\u00e4 j\u00e4i j\u00e4ljelle. Edelliskerralla vaniljaa hulahti liikaa ja sen tuoksu on helposti liian dominoiva. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Vaikka koostumus ja v\u00e4ris\u00e4vy eiv\u00e4t viel\u00e4 vastaa aivan t\u00e4ysin haluttua, t\u00e4m\u00e4 er\u00e4 on jo huomattavasti l\u00e4hemp\u00e4n\u00e4. Resepti vaatii en\u00e4\u00e4 siis hiukan hienos\u00e4\u00e4t\u00f6\u00e4. Vahamaisemmasta koostumuksesta huolimatta levittyvyys on kuitenkin melko hyv\u00e4. Unfortunately I haven&#8217;t been able to use the previous lip balm that much, because of the overpowering vanilla scent. So it was time to make a new batch of tinted lip balm. The notes I took last time were very useful. It allowed me to make changes to the recipe. For this time, I had also ordered a mortar for grinding the mica and other colouring and a small measuring spoon to measure the colour powder more accurately.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><strong>Lip balm No 2<\/strong><br>10 g beeswax<br>4 g cocoa butter<br>4 g shea butter<br>1 tbl jojoba oil<br>0,5 tsp vegetable glycerine<br>2 tsp castor oil<br>0,05 ml blue mica<br>0,2 ml fire red mica<br>0,2 ml red iron oxide<br>0,45 ml hibiscus powder<br>4 drops of bergamot essential oil<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>The oils were all delivered in the same bottle because the quantities were so small. The last time I was going to use half of them, however a little more than half of them went into the mixture, so this time I used the rest of what was left. For this reason, the quantities are not quite accurate. Likewise, I used about half of the cocoa butter and the shea butter last time. This time, I wanted the consistency to be less &#8220;melting&#8221; on the skin, so I used about half of what was left of both butters. Last time the shade became very translucent so I doubled the amount of colour. For this time I had also ordered blue mica, red iron oxide and hibiscus powder. I only added a little bit of blue to avoid a too purple finish. I measured that the &#8220;tip-of-the-knife&#8221; I had used earlier was roughly equivalent to one 0.05 ml spoon. Here are my notes on the success of this batch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>This time the consistency was already a bit too waxy, so next time I&#8217;ll try to balance the wax, butter and oil ratio. The lightly lower amount of oils might have affected the final result.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The shade is too brownish. This is probably due to the fact that I added more of brownish hibiscus and red iron oxide, and a fair amount less of fire-red mica. In the next batch I will add blue and reduce the hibiscus.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>I didn&#8217;t want to use vanilla this time, but I did add 4 drops of bergamot oil. There was way too much of  vanilla last time and the scent of it is easily too dominant.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Although the texture and shade are not yet quite what I want, this batch is much closer. So the recipe just needs a little fine-tuning. However, despite the waxier consistency, lip balm spreads still quite good. The intensity and coverage of the tint is quite good, so there is not much need to change the total amount of colouring agents. It&#8217;s mainly a matter of finding the right ratio between the different shades, but in use it will become clearer whether I want to adjust the quantity too a little. The amount of fragrance is also now pretty good. Bergamot combined with the natural scent of butters and waxe is not too dominant and doesn&#8217;t cause headaches. Bergamot oil should also treat the skin. All in all, a pretty successful batch. On a side note, grinding and mixing of the mica and other colour powders in the mortar made them blend faster into the lip balm mixture. And additional note, although the amounts seem and look awfully small in the mixing bowl, the mixture is still very sufficient. The only downside is that the lip balms tend to go bad faster than you can use them all, even though I use lip balm every day in the winter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>NOTICE! Essential oils can be harmfull or even dangerous to pets.
