Not exceptionally difficult, but not the easiest in the world. My hair is very straight and thick. It’s difficult to style because the curls straighten out as soon as I step out the door, and the strands of hair escape from their neat formation mischievously like heifers from their fence. Plus, there’s a lot of this hair, and I’ve never been very good at doing the updo’s in the first place. I cut my hair short when I was young, so as a teenager, I never learned to do hair with friends, but had to learn everything the hard way on my own as an adult. The ends are dry and the strands still behave badly when ever they feel like. Curls have stayed on pretty much only with the aid of permanent curls as a base. <\/p>\n\n\n\n I have not learned how to remove the frizz. Some years ago, a perm that was incompatible with hair dye made my hair really rough. After that I stopped dying my hair and it’s probably been a couple of years since my last perm. I rarely use a blow dryer or heating stylers. My hair is still frizzy at the ends. So I thought that since I’ve already tried all sorts of products, why not test out those more natural options.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The first thing I did was to switch to a vinegar-based conditioner. Then I switched some of the styling products to flaxseed setting lotion. These have reduced the static electricity on my hair, although most of it occurs when brushing. I still intend to replace the store shampoo with a soapwort shampoo. That was supposed to happen already, but then a minor shower room flooding incident happened, so I didn’t get around to it. The shower drain got blocked. It was unblocked by the sewage service, but the next time we used it, it started flooding again. So the sewage service came again with a camera. They found a giant ice block in the pipe. The joys of an old house. Perhaps I can finally test that soapwort shampoo in the Christmas sauna.<\/p>\n\n\n\n I’m also going to test boar bristle brush and some kind of homemade hair mask pre-washing. The boar bristle brush is supposed to treat the hair by spreading the grease from scalp to the hair ends. Boar vristle brush is supposedto both condition the hair and reduce the need to wash it. So the old saying about 100 brush strokes is not just a myth. The boar bristle brush was a hair-care tool in a time when there were no industrial hair care products. Nowadays, my hair needs washing every 1.5 to 2 weeks. However, I wash it once a week. Siivil\u00f6i yrtit pois kolmantena tai nelj\u00e4nten\u00e4 p\u00e4iv\u00e4n\u00e4 ja pullota etikka. Lis\u00e4\u00e4 halutessasi pari tippaa eteerist\u00e4 \u00f6ljy\u00e4. K\u00e4yt\u00f6ss\u00e4 lorauta etikkahuuhdetta litraan vett\u00e4 ja valele hiuksiin. Voit j\u00e4tt\u00e4\u00e4 sen hiuksiin tai huuhdella pois. Itse k\u00e4yt\u00e4n noin puoli desi\u00e4 huuhdetta litraan vett\u00e4. Tuoksu haihtuu kun hiukset kuivuvat. 2-3 tsp of hole linseeds
5 dl of water
Bring water to boil and add linseeds. Allow to simmer slowly for about 5-7 minutes. Take off the heat and allow to cool down for a while. Sieve linseeds off and allow to properly cool down and then pour into spray bottle. Liquid is now pale pink. If you want to add scent or other conditioning things like vitamin E oil, jojoba oil or lavender oil, you can add them to the cooled liquid. If you want to have more gel-like product, use more linseeds and then store in a jar instead of spray bottle. It will keep good in a fridge for about a month. Ps. You can eat boiled linseeds if you don’t dare to toss them away.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Put large bundle of herbs in a jar (for example lavender, hyssop, rosemary, mint or rose petals), top up with vinegar. Close jar\/bottle and let it sit by a window for couple of days. Sieve herbs out on a third or fourth day and bottle the vinegar. If you like more scent, add drop or two of essential oils. In use, use a dash of vinegar rinse for one little of water and pour on your hair. You can either leave it on, or rinse off after a while. I usually use about 0,5 dl per one liter of water. Vinegar scent will evaporate when hair dries up.
