<\/figure><\/div>\n\n\nIs it already couple of years ehen I have posted any thrift finds? Time goes so fast these days, it’s almost impossible to grasp it. But let’s have a look at these couple items I recently found.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I have been loking for this kind of bobbin stand for couple years now. Those ones which I have seen, have been quite expensive, so I didn’t dare to buy them. However this time it was affordable. These bobbin stands have been used to make ply yarns. Ply yarns are made by combining two or more one-ply yarns together. One-ply yarns were placed on the stand and from there they would run through spinners hands to the bobbin on the spinning wheel. This stand is kind of semi-decorative with rounded shapes, but they can be more decorative too, with carved or painted decorations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Second find is old clock face, which we found very cheaply. Actual clock have been removed at some point. These kind of weighted pendulum clocks were typical farmhouse clocks in Finland already in 1860’s. They were simple and cheap, but still pretty reliable. They were made in Germany and therefore sometimes also called Schwarzwald clocks. There is one also in my birthome, but I think it is broken. I don’t remember it ever been in use. Hubby was planning on installing battery-operated clock on this. I might have to build fake weights for it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I’m definitely going to use this for plying the yarns with spinning wheel, but it will also work fine for example stand for ribbons.<\/em><\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n![\"\"](\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.evildressmaker.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/clockface.jpg?resize=763%2C1024\")
Clock face is dirty and patched. Atleast some of the pictures are transferred rather than painted. So it hasn’t been particularly valuable from the beginning. However the shabby look makes it even more charming.
