Havum\u00e4keen muuttaessamme olin ehk\u00e4 eniten innoissani leivinuunista. Halusin opetella k\u00e4ytt\u00e4m\u00e4\u00e4n sit\u00e4 ruuanvalmistuksessa. Kun olen sellainen perfektionisti kuin olen niin minulla kesti kokonainen vuosi ennen kuin uskaltauduin kokeilemaan ruuanlaittoa sill\u00e4. Kahlasin facebookissa k\u00e4sitt\u00e4m\u00e4tt\u00f6m\u00e4n m\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4n erilaisia ohjeita ja neuvoja, tenttasin \u00e4iti\u00e4ni ja haravoin netti\u00e4 leivinuunin k\u00e4yt\u00f6n vinkeist\u00e4. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jokainen uuni on kuitenkin omanlaisensa ja kukin niist\u00e4 pit\u00e4\u00e4 opetella yksil\u00f6n\u00e4. Alkuun k\u00e4ytin nuukuuttani ihan liian pieni\u00e4 m\u00e4\u00e4ri\u00e4 polttopuuta eik\u00e4 tulipes\u00e4n l\u00e4mp\u00f6tila noussut riitt\u00e4v\u00e4sti. Sitten kun vihdoin uskalsin polttaa tarpeeksi puuta, alkoi l\u00e4mp\u00f6kin kohota tarpeeksi yl\u00f6s ruuanvalmistukseen. Ensimm\u00e4inen ateria oli nopeasti valmistuva kanaa ja herkkusieni\u00e4 kermassa ja paahdettuja ruusukaaleja. Samana iltana haudutin j\u00e4lkil\u00e4mm\u00f6ss\u00e4 viel\u00e4 uuniriisipuuron. Uunin l\u00e4mp\u00f6tilaa mittaan erillisell\u00e4 uunil\u00e4mp\u00f6mittarilla, jonka laitan tulipes\u00e4\u00e4n hiilien kolaamisen j\u00e4lkeen. Moderneissa uuneissa voi olla my\u00f6s kiinte\u00e4 uunin kylkeen asennettu mittari. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Leivinuunin l\u00e4mmitt\u00e4minen vie sen verran aikaa ett\u00e4 se pit\u00e4\u00e4 aloittaa hyviss\u00e4 ajoin. Ty\u00f6p\u00e4iv\u00e4n j\u00e4lkeen ei en\u00e4\u00e4 ehdi samaksi p\u00e4iv\u00e4ksi saada sill\u00e4 ruokaa, mutta yht\u00e4 hyvin sinne voi pist\u00e4\u00e4 y\u00f6ksi hautumaan seuraavan p\u00e4iv\u00e4n ruuan. Y\u00f6n yli hauduttamiseen kannattaa valita hitaasti kypsyv\u00e4\u00e4, esim karjalanpaistia. Itse olen leivinuunikokkailussa vasta alussa. Aikomuksena on kokeilla my\u00f6s pitsaa, vuokaleip\u00e4\u00e4 ja muita uuniruokia. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>T\u00e4h\u00e4n menness\u00e4 olen ehtinyt jo paistaa pannukakkua ja joulutorttuja sek\u00e4 valmistaa lohta. Saimme viime vuonna joululahjaksi leip\u00e4lapion, joten jotain pitsaa tai leiv\u00e4ntynk\u00e4\u00e4 t\u00e4ytyisi varmaan pian kokeilla. T\u00e4ss\u00e4 uunissa ei ole luukussa ilma-aukkoja joten luukkua t\u00e4ytyy tulen palaessa pit\u00e4\u00e4 raollaan. Heti kun hiilet on kolattu pois, luukku t\u00e4ytyy kuitenkin sulkea jotta l\u00e4mp\u00f6tila ei laske liian nopeasti. Etenkin t\u00e4n\u00e4 talvena kun s\u00e4hk\u00f6n s\u00e4\u00e4st\u00f6 on kova sana, siit\u00e4 olisi ollut huimasti apua ruuanlaitossa. Leivinuunillakin kuitenkin p\u00e4rj\u00e4\u00e4. Tulevaisuudessa aion kokeilla ruuanvalmistusta my\u00f6skin kakluuneissa ja p\u00f6ntt\u00f6uuneissa. When we moved to Havum\u00e4ki, I was probably most excited about the bread oven. I wanted to learn how to use it for cooking. Being the perfectionist I am, it took me whole year to get the courage to start cooking with it. I browsed through huge amount of instructions and tips in facebook, asked about it from my mum and searched through the internet for all sorts of helpful tips. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Every oven is an individual and you have to learn to use each of them separately. In the beginning I didn&#8217;t burn enough wood in it, so temperature didn&#8217;t rise enough. When I finally got the courage to burn enough wood, the temperature started to be high enough for cooking. First meal was easy, fast cooking chicken filets in cream with mushrooms and roasted sprouts. In the residual heat I also managed to stew traditional Finnish rice pudding. I use oven thermometer to measure the temperature. I place it in the oven after I have plowed red coals and ashes to the far end of the oven. Modern ovens might have fixed thermometers, on the front or on the door. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Warming the bread oven takes quite a bit of time, so it has to be started early. After day of work there is not enough time to heat it up for cooking for the evening, however I could slow cook something for the next day overnight. For slow cooking overnight it&#8217;s best to choose something that takes long time to cook, like meat stew or pulled pork. I am still in the beginning of my bread oven cooking experiments. But I am planning on trying pizza, bread and other oven cooked foods. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So far I have also baked pancake, Christmas pastries and salmon. Last year we got bread shovel as a christmas gift, so soon I think we have to try pizzas or bread or something. I am starting to get the hang of it. With bread oven I have to keep closer eye on it than electric oven. Temperature is not that precise or even, so checking in on the food is important. So far I have been using oven grid under the cooking dish, to avoid burning the bottom of the dish. Keeping an eye on the temperature is also important. This oven does not have air holes in the door so, door must be kept slightly open during burning is necessary, but it must be closed as soon as ashes and coals are plowed aside. Otherwise temperature drops too fast. Someone gave general guideline for which order to bake things because temperature starts to drop as soon as the fire has gone out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>carelian pastries, flatbread, pizza<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>rolls, small buns<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>yeast bread, ryebread, puff pastry<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>long buns, berry pies, bisquits<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>cakes, casseroles, bisquits<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>stews<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>meringue<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>dehydrating vegetable and mushrooms<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>I am slightly annoyed that we don&#8217;t have the range anymore. Especially this winter, when saving electricity is the topic, it would have helped a lot on the cooking. However we will manage with the bread oven. In the future I will also try cooking with the other fire places. But for those I will have to buy grid with long legs. Nyt se on p\u00e4\u00e4ssyt takaisin alkuper\u00e4iseen hommaansa puulaatikkona. The I wanted to paint it white. It&#8217;s travelled with me long time and hid inside everything from comiks to fabrics. Now it&#8217;s finally returned to the original use as fire wood box.
