<\/figure><\/div>\n\n\nHave to admit, during last couple of years I have bought more shoes than perhaps necessary. I have had to renew my shoe stash, because I needed to. My feet just can’t handle anymore high heeled shoes more than fifteen minutes. So I have tried to invest on pretty and comfortable low-heeled shoes for different occasions. At the same time I have slowly got rid of most of my high-heeled shoes. I have tried to keep my cool and not go overboard, however working at the shoe manufacturers representative has had a lot to do with it. I mean, when looking at pretty shoes all day long, you do start craving for them. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Last Autumn I ordered myself pretty city wellies, after ll Finnish Autumns are more wet than crispy clear. Unfortunately. I have been using them a lot though, our yard is quite the mud pit in the Autumn. There’s not many things that I hate more than getting my shoes and feet wet. And often shoes can’t take the insole getting wet either, but are ruined. for that reason I choose my Autumn shoes very carefully. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
I also have ankle boots with studs for snow and icy weather, but for this Winter I ordered sorel-type of winter boots. They should keep my ankles toasty and dry even in deep snow and sleet. We did have lots and lots of snow last Winter, so gotta be prepared. Unfortunately they have not arrived yet, but then again, neither is the weather for them. In addition to long boots, I also made an impulse buy of chelsea boots, when nice pair came along. They will go with any outfit I can think of. Allthough I tend to wear mostly skirts and dresses, which get a bit more edge with chelseas. Like for example this national costume’s skirt which I wore today. I am still dreaming of brown vintage styled long lace-up boots which I could wear with plus-fours, but I still haven’t found any for my budget. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Btw, did you know that history of chelsea boots goes all the way back to Queen Victoria. Shoemaker Joseph Sparkes Hall cleverly combined new invention vulcanized rubber into shoes and created the predecessor of chelsea boots, paddock boots. They were developed for work shoes at horse stables, hence the name. Sparkes Hall was also marketing genius, so in 1937 he gave pair of his paddock boots to young Queen Victoria. Victoria loved horse back riding, so she also fell in love with these easy-to-wear practical ankle boots. She wore them all through her life which made them also popular among common people. Name chelsea boot came to use much later. The exact origins of the name is not clear, but possibly it comes from Chelsea, where elastic ankle boots were popular in the 1960’s mod scene, in the wake of Beatles. For once I am surfing the high tide of fashion with these chunky chelsea boots. White or cream colour with black soles would be even a tad more trendy.
