Taas v\u00e4h\u00e4n tapettisulkeisia. Tapetteihin h\u00f6ps\u00e4ht\u00e4neell\u00e4 py\u00f6riv\u00e4t tapetit jo melkein unissakin. K\u00e4vin tekem\u00e4ss\u00e4 tuossa syksyll\u00e4 v\u00e4h\u00e4n erikoista hommaa. Nimitt\u00e4in ihan ty\u00f6pajassa irrottelemassa tapetteja toisistaan. Meill\u00e4 ei ole tarkoitus repi\u00e4 kaikkia seini\u00e4 jokaisesta huoneesta auki, mutta sen verran talon historiakerrostumat kiinnostavat, ett\u00e4 haluan dokumentoida mahdollisuuksien mukaan joka huoneen tapettikerrostumat er\u00e4\u00e4nlaiseksi selailuarkistoksi. Siksi ajelin ihan Forssaan asti oppimaan parhaat niksit miten tapettikakun kerrokset kuoritaan irti toisistaan. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Noin periaatteessa yhteen liister\u00f6ityjen paperikerrosten irrottaminen on suht helppoa. Liotellaan vain vedess\u00e4 niin liisteri liukenee irti. Vanhat tapetit ovat kumminkin v\u00e4h\u00e4n eri juttu koska niiss\u00e4 on k\u00e4ytetty painov\u00e4rej\u00e4 jotka voivat liueta veteen. Lis\u00e4ksi t\u00e4ytyy varoa tapetin pintaa ettei se vioitu liikaa. Hopea- ja kultav\u00e4rit yleens\u00e4 liukenevat veteen joten sellaiset saattaa olla viisaampi yritt\u00e4\u00e4 hauduttaa irti liotuksen sijaan. Puuha on melko aikaaviev\u00e4\u00e4, mutta se kannattaa sill\u00e4 kerrosten alta voi paljastua upeita tapettiaarteita jotka puhuttelevat etenkin t\u00e4llaista historia-n\u00f6rtti\u00e4 kuin min\u00e4. N\u00e4ill\u00e4 konsteilla sain vihdoin esiin ruokailuhuoneemme kaksi mysteerist\u00e4 tapettikerrosta josta olin onnistunut aiemmin ottamaan esiin vain pieni\u00e4 palasia. Yhden p\u00e4iv\u00e4n ty\u00f6pajassa n\u00e4in my\u00f6s muiden kurssilaisten huikeita tapettiaarteita joita yhdess\u00e4 ihasteltiin niiden pala palalta paljastuessa kerrosten alta. Hirmu j\u00e4nn\u00e4\u00e4, v\u00e4h\u00e4n salaper\u00e4ist\u00e4kin puuhaa. Loput ruokailuhuoneen tapetit n\u00e4et t\u00e4\u00e4lt\u00e4 aiemmasta postauksesta<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tiesittek\u00f6 muuten ett\u00e4 nyky\u00e4\u00e4n voi my\u00f6s teett\u00e4\u00e4 tapetteja vanhan mallin mukaan. Kun tapettia on tallella riitt\u00e4v\u00e4n suuri pala, sen malli voidaan skannata ja tulostaa halutunlaiselle tapettipaperille. N\u00e4in on mahdollista saada vanhaan taloon uusi, mutta t\u00e4ysin vanhan mallin mukainen tapetti. T\u00e4m\u00e4 ei ole maksettu mainos, mutta n\u00e4it\u00e4 kursseja j\u00e4rjest\u00e4\u00e4 ja tapetteja valmistaa Wirkkala Wallpaper\/ Culturelli Oy<\/a> Forssassa. Let’s have more wallpaper stuff. I’m kind of geeked about wallpapers now, almost in my dreams too. Earlier in the Autumn I participated unusual workshop, for separating wallpaper layers. We are not planning of ripping off all old wallpapers from our house, but I am interested to find out the timeline of the house, so I have to open walls atleast little bit so that I can see what kind of wallpapers they used. I want to document them into some sort of viewing book. For that reason i made a little trip to Forssa to learn best tricks to peel layers and layers of wallpapers from each other. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Basically separating paper layers from each other is quite simple. Just soak them in water to solve the wallpaper paste. However old wallpapers are a bit more trickier than that because of the paints they used to print them. Also has to be carefull not to damage the surface too much. Silver and gold paints usually wash off with water, so it might be best to try to solve the paste with damp rags rather than to soak in water. All of this is quite time consuming, but it’s worth it, because this might reveal wallpaper treasures, which are quite exciting for a history nerd like me. With these methods I was able to reveal two mystery wallpapers from our diningroom, which I was previously able to get only small glimpses of. During this one day workshop, I also saw lots of fabulous wallpapers from others. It was very exciting, almost mysterious really. Did you knew that these days it’s also possible to have wallpapers tailor made. If you have big enough fragment of old wallpaper, you can have it scanned and printed onto wallpaper of your preference. This way you can actually have original wallpapers back on your old house. this is not payed add, but in Finland there is atleast one company Wirkkala Wallpaper\/Culturelli Oy<\/a> doing these in Forssa. I am sure you can source similar companies all over the world. I think Spoonflower does them aswell. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

These don’t look much, but they are wallpapers too. Larger piece is very very light pink in messy looking print, which were in fashion at some era. Ontop of that is pale green wallpaper. Unfortunately both pieces are pretty dirty. These came from under the window, where possibly was dining table. So that area got quite dirty over tim<\/em><\/strong>e.
