Place for car shed whould be pretty much in the middle, from the birch towards the grow boxes. On top right, in front of pine trees, there is road to the fields. Car shed should be far enough from the road, so that there is enough space for tractors with farming machinery to drive past. <\/em><\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
Kolmas puute on kasvihuone. Kasvihuone ei ole kiireyslistalla kovin ylh\u00e4\u00e4ll\u00e4, sill\u00e4 kasvihuoneen rakentaminen edellytt\u00e4isi my\u00f6s sen k\u00e4ytt\u00f6\u00e4. T\u00e4ll\u00e4 hetkell\u00e4 pieni lavakauluskasvimaa on omaan jaksamiseeni aivan tarpeeksi. Kasvihuone kuitenkin kutkuttelee, joidenkin vihannesten sato paranisi kasvihuoneen ansiosta ja talvella siell\u00e4 voisi s\u00e4ilytt\u00e4\u00e4 puutarhaty\u00f6kalut, eiv\u00e4tk\u00e4 ne t\u00e4ytt\u00e4isi is\u00e4nn\u00e4n ty\u00f6tilaa ulkovarastossa. Toisaalta se vaatisi my\u00f6s jonkinlaisen kasteluj\u00e4rjestelm\u00e4n rakentamista. Pihassa on kyll\u00e4 kaivo, joka myyntipuheen mukaan “ei ole koskaan kuivunut”, mutta edellinen asukas on nostanut siit\u00e4 k\u00e4sipumpun yl\u00f6s jostakin syyst\u00e4. Emme ole viel\u00e4 ehtineet tutkimaan sen tarkemmin onko pumppu en\u00e4\u00e4 toimiva tai miten paljon kaivossa oikeasti on vett\u00e4 ja voiko sit\u00e4 k\u00e4ytt\u00e4\u00e4 sy\u00f6t\u00e4vien kasvien kasteluveten\u00e4. Yksi pienempi rakennusprojekti meill\u00e4 viel\u00e4 on. Nimitt\u00e4in catio. Toinen kissoistamme on rescue-tapaus eik\u00e4 sit\u00e4 voi p\u00e4\u00e4st\u00e4\u00e4 ulos vapaaksi, eik\u00e4 valjaiden pukeminen onnistu viel\u00e4, jos koskaan. Haluamme kuitenkin tarjota t\u00e4llekin kissayksil\u00f6lle virikkeit\u00e4 ja monipuolisen asuinymp\u00e4rist\u00f6n. Mietimme pitk\u00e4\u00e4n miten toteuttaisimme cation j\u00e4rkev\u00e4sti ja ilman massiivista rakennusurakkaa. Keksimmekin ett\u00e4 sivuoven katoksen alla, portaikossa on ihan t\u00e4ydellinen cation paikka! Tarvitsee vain ymp\u00e4r\u00f6id\u00e4 portaat ja pylv\u00e4\u00e4t verkolla ja rakentaa portaiden alap\u00e4\u00e4h\u00e4n kevyt verkko-ovi. N\u00e4in ei tarvita edes kattomateriaaleja, kun sellainen on valmiina. Catio ei my\u00f6sk\u00e4\u00e4n ulkon\u00e4\u00f6llisesti erottuisi kovin paljon rakennuksesta. Cation rakennukseen p\u00e4\u00e4st\u00e4\u00e4n ehk\u00e4 jo kev\u00e4\u00e4ll\u00e4. Olen siit\u00e4 ehk\u00e4 jopa enemm\u00e4n innoissani kuin noista muista rakennusprojekteista. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\nOctober post for Self-suffiency theme. This time it is about buildings and projects. Links to other posts you can find at the end of the post. Unfortunately posts are in Finnish. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
We are just in the beginning of our house journey, so we haven’t had much time to start any huge projects yet. However, we have talked about couple things which we are lacking. There is no sauna in the house. We don’t want to build it inside, so it would have to be on the yard. There would have been suitable space inside, the room we are renovating now. Creating sauna into that room would have required tearing up the floor in the hallway, which we weren’t prepared to do right now. So we just look for outside sauna and wait for suitable to turn up. There was already one nice barrel rauna, but seller cocked it op for us and we missed out. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sauna is sort of on the top of the urgency list. We both love sauna, plain shower just isn’t the same. We have thought of all options, cave sauna, trailer sauna, readymade and built-on-site versions. One option would be to turn the cellar into cave sauna. Idea tempts me, but I really want to keep the cellar and take it back into the original use. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Second thing missing is car shed. There is quite large wood shed, which could be altered into combined car shed and wood shed. However, that is on the far end of the building and might require also alterations for the yard. More natural place for car shed would be on the edge of the property. There is small road leading to the fields surrounding our land. Road is on our land, even though other people use it. Between that road and our yard is sort of little meadow, where cowshed used to be. That area would be just big enough for garage. That is at the end of our urgency list though.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Third thing is green house. It is not very urgent, because I don’t want to make anything that doesn’t ge any use. For now the grow boxes are quite enough for me. However it is tempting. It would improve the harvest of some vegetables. It would also bouble as storage for my gardening tools and such. Now they are crowding outside work space. On the other hand, it would require some sort of watering system. There is a well on our yard, but for some reason the pump has been lifted up and we don’t know yet if it is in working order. So for now the green house idea is just evolving in my head.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
There is still one more smaller building project. Catio. One of our cats is rescue and it can’t be let out or taken out in lead either. But we still want to give her activities and variety in space. We have thought about how to make this catio sensibly without huge fuzz. We figured out that the side door stairs are the perfect place for catio. We only have to surround the stairs and columns with wire net and build a light net door at the bottom of the stairs. We don’t even need to build a roof, because there already is roof. This way it will be quite well camouflaged too. We might be able to start building it next spring. Cellar would be large enough for sauna, but I want to renovate it back to original use. In the photo there is less than half of the wood shed. When wood is properly stacked, there would be plenty of space for the car, but that would require some alterations. <\/em><\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n![\"\"](\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.evildressmaker.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/rakennushaaveita4.jpg?resize=730%2C678\")
Side door stairs are practically made for catio. Just some light support wood for the metal netting and it’s done. There is just enough space on upper deck for small table and chair for having morning coffee and cats can have hammocks and climbing trees. Only bigger thing to build is some sort of metal wire door at the bottom of the stairs, so hoomans can walk through. <\/em><\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
