Pihassamme kasvaa upeita syreeneit\u00e4. Paljon. Itseasiassa jopa l\u00e4hes haitaksi asti. Talon tien puoleisella seinustalla on mahtava vanha syreenin kanto. Ik\u00e4v\u00e4 kyll\u00e4 se on vain metrin p\u00e4\u00e4ss\u00e4 sein\u00e4st\u00e4 joten puu on t\u00e4ytynyt kaataa pois joitakin vuosia sitten. Me joudumme nyt taistelemaan kannosta versovien uusien alkujen kanssa. Ehk\u00e4 se siit\u00e4 n\u00e4ivett\u00e4m\u00e4ll\u00e4 vihdoin lannistuu. Harmittaa tuhota noin vanha kasvusto, mutta sen ei voi antaa kasvaa n\u00e4in l\u00e4hell\u00e4 taloa, ettei se tuhoa talon rakenteita.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Onneksi upeita suuria syreenej\u00e4 kasvaa my\u00f6s pihan otollisemmilla paikoilla. Kahta syreeni\u00e4 lukuunottamatta syreenit ovat punaviolettia lajiketta joissa kukinto voi kasvaa jopa 20-30cm pituiseksi ja kukat asettuvat kukinnossa kerroksittain rypp\u00e4isiin. Kiilt\u00e4v\u00e4n vihre\u00e4t lehdet ovat soikeat, k\u00e4rjest\u00e4 venyneet ter\u00e4v\u00e4ksi ja niiss\u00e4 on selke\u00e4t uurteet suonien kohdalla. Ne eiv\u00e4t siis ole pihasyreeni\u00e4 jonka lehdet ovat herttamaiset. En ole viel\u00e4 onnistunut tunnistamaan t\u00e4t\u00e4 lajiketta. Jos tunnistat kuvista t\u00e4m\u00e4n mysteeri-syreenin niin vinkkaa toki.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pihamme kaksi erilaista syreeni\u00e4 ovat tuota mainittua perinteist\u00e4 pihasyreeni\u00e4. Sit\u00e4 l\u00f6ytyy my\u00f6s naapurien pihoilta. Sen kukinnot ovat pienemm\u00e4t ja tiiviimm\u00e4t, vaaleamman siniliilat ja lehdet selke\u00e4n herttamaiset. Lehdiss\u00e4 ei my\u00f6sk\u00e4\u00e4n ole kiilt\u00e4v\u00e4\u00e4 pintaa kuten t\u00e4ss\u00e4 toisessa. Pihasyreenist\u00e4 l\u00f6ytyy muitakin v\u00e4rivariaatioita, esim. valkoinen. Ik\u00e4v\u00e4 kyll\u00e4 noista kahdesta toinen kasvaa oven vieress\u00e4, kiinni kuistin sein\u00e4ss\u00e4 joten sekin on pakko h\u00e4vitt\u00e4\u00e4 m\u00e4d\u00e4tt\u00e4m\u00e4st\u00e4 rakenteita. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Syreenien kukinta on juuri nyt parhaimmillaan ja tuoksu on huumaava. T\u00e4ll\u00e4inen tuoksuista migreeniherkk\u00e4kin pystyy silti hyvin oleilemaan pihalla kun puskat eiv\u00e4t ole tiiviisti oleilualueen ymp\u00e4rill\u00e4 vaan ripoteltuna pitkin pihaa. Harmi ett\u00e4 kukinta on niin kovin lyhyt ja pian kukat varisevat lilana sateena maahan. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

There is lots of beautifull lilacs on our yard. A lot. Actually too much, they are becoming a bit of a bother. On the road side of the house there is huge lilac stump. Unfortunately it has been growing only one meter away from the wall so it has been taken down several years ago. It was way too close to the house so it might damage the construction. We now have to battle with the new growth from the stump. Hopefully eventually it will fade away if we just cut all the green off again and again. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thankfully there is lots of big lilacs on better grounds around the yard aswell. They are redish lilac in colour. The flower can grow up to 20-30 cm long and individual flowers are layered in groups. Shiny green leaves are oval, with long pointy tip and clear grooves. This means they are not common lilac, which has heart shaped leaves. I have not managed to identify what variety they are. If you recognise them from photos, please feel free to share. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other two lilacs on our yard are that forementioned traditional common lilac. It also grows on neighbours yards. Flowers on them are smaller, tighter, more of pale bluish lilac and leaves are clearly heart-shaped. Leaves aren’t shiny either, unlike those other ones are. Common lilac also has colour variations, like white. Unfortunately one of our two common lilacs grow right next to our front door, by the wall, so we have to dig it out, otherwise it will rot the wall. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bloom of lilacs is now at it’s hight and scent is intoxicating. But even a person like me, migrain sensitive for strong smells, can still spend time on our yard. Thankfully lilacs are not circling the main area, but are scattered all around the yard. Too bad the blooming is so very short and soon flowers will drop to the ground like lilac rain. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Common lilac flowerstems are much shorter and atleast on this individual plant the colour is much more pale blue lilac than red lilac. This flower, however, is already at the end of it’s life and colour has faded even more from the original.
