I haven’t made cape with that pattern myself, but it should work nicely. Half bell pattern doesn’t make very full hem and creates smaller folds. If you make very short cape circumference might not be long enough. So the model you are looking for will affect on the shape of the pattern. You might want to measure circumference of the hem before you cut the fabric to make sure it is wide enough. However if length is below your elbow there should be enough width.<\/p>\n <\/a><\/a><\/p>\n \n It also depends on the fabric what kind of pattern is best to use. Thick material usually requires better shaped pattern than thin and flowing material. On narrow cape thick material looks even more thicker and stiff. So also the length affects on the pattern. On very short cape extremely full creases can look funny. They look best on full length cape. But these are mainly matter of your individual taste. Someone might like more of stiff look and someone else more flowing and full look. With the basic pattern you get little bit more folds on the hem than with half bell pattern. If you are using stiff and thick material you might want to shape shoulder on the pattern to make it set better on you.<\/p>\n With the half bell pattern you get enough fullness to the hem, but if you require lots of folds you might want to use full bell pattern. If you are making long cape you propably have to put seam somewhere on the cape (center back and maybe also both sides)<\/span><\/strong> due to fabric width. When you draw pattern first to paper it is easy to cut it in smaller sections according how many seams patter and fabric requires. It is also easy to add belt on it by putting holes in front and back on the hight of your waist. Cape works fine without collar, but it is easy to add. You can use collar pattern from blouse or coat pattern of your likings. Just check that it is same length than neckline on your cape. If needed, you can adjust length from the center back of the collar. It is also easy to add lining to your cape because you can use same patter for that.
