Renesanssi n\u00e4ytt\u00e4\u00e4 tunkevan el\u00e4m\u00e4\u00e4n joka puolelta. Aiemmin syksyll\u00e4 k\u00e4vin tekem\u00e4ss\u00e4 renesanssikaulanauhaa lasihelmikurssilla ja kuukausi sitten k\u00e4vin kuvattavana renesanssiherraksi pukeutuneena. Mutta t\u00e4m\u00e4 alkoi jo aiemmin, muistanette rene-sukkaprojektin<\/a>. Visiteerasimme my\u00f6s kaveriporukalla Helsingiss\u00e4 renesanssin\u00e4yttelyss\u00e4, jo viime joulukuussa. K\u00e4vimme samalla muissakin n\u00e4yttelyiss\u00e4, Helene Schjerfbeck oli vaikuttava, mutta niin oli t\u00e4m\u00e4 Lucas Cranach vanhemman n\u00e4yttelykin. Taiden\u00e4yttelyiss\u00e4 on aina jotenkin hassua kun on n\u00e4hnyt teokset aiemmin vain kuvissa ja sitten se on yht\u00e4kki\u00e4 liven\u00e4 siin\u00e4 edess\u00e4. Ne ovat aina ihan hirve\u00e4n paljon pienempi\u00e4 kuin mit\u00e4 kuvien perusteella on kuvitellut. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

J\u00e4nnitt\u00e4v\u00e4\u00e4 on my\u00f6s miten sit\u00e4 huomaa itse ett\u00e4 aikojen saatossa katsoo teoksissa erilaisia asioita. Esim itselle merkityksellisten teosten kohdalla saattaa tarkastella pitk\u00e4\u00e4n tekniikkaa ja ty\u00f6n j\u00e4lke\u00e4, seurailla siveltimen j\u00e4lki\u00e4. Tai jos on erityisen kiinnostunut vaatteista niin saattaa tarkastella miten joku tietty vaate on teoksessa kuvattu. Onko sen yksityiskohdat j\u00e4rjennetty tarkasti viimeist\u00e4 piirtoa my\u00f6den, vai onko haettu ennemmin valojen ja varjojen kautta vain vaatteen antamaan tunnelmaa tai onko vaate vain ep\u00e4m\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4inen v\u00e4rim\u00f6ykky? Jos taas aihe ei ole mitenk\u00e4\u00e4n itselle erityinen ei ehk\u00e4 kiinnit\u00e4 koko maalaukseen paljonkaan huomiota. Itse olen alkanut viime vuosina kiinnitt\u00e4\u00e4 paljon enemm\u00e4n huomiota my\u00f6s siihen miten teos on tehty, se saattaa antaa joskus teoksesta paljon enemm\u00e4n kuin vain sen pelkk\u00e4 aihe. N\u00e4iss\u00e4 historiallisissa t\u00f6iss\u00e4 oma huomio kuitenkin useimmin kiinnittyy pukujen yksityiskohtiin ja tulee miettineeksi ett\u00e4 mitenk\u00e4h\u00e4n tuo vaate on oikeasti tehty. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Renaissance seems to be bleeding into my life from everywhere these days. Earlier this Autumn I participated lamp bead workshop to make renaissance necklace and recently I did photoshoot dressed as renaissance lord. But this started already before that, you might remember the renaissance sock project<\/a>. Also me and couple of my friends visited renaissance exhibition in Helsinki last December. We visited other exhibitions too, Helene Schjerfbeck was amazing, but so was this Lucas Cranach elder’s exhibition. It is always a bit funny in exhibitions that when you have seen all these paintings only in photos before, and then all of a sudden they are there in front of you. They are always so terribly small, compared to what you imagined they would be. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It’s also exciting how you notice yourself looking at paintings and other art pieces in different ways. For example when you see art pieces important to you, you might look at the way it was painted, the technique, follow the brush strokes. Or if you are interested in clothing, you might pay a lot of attention to how garments were portrayed in it. Are all details copied to a T, or is it pictured more via shadows and light or is it just a colourfull blob? And if the subject is nothing special to you, perhaps you don’t pay much attention to it at all. I have started to pay much more attention to also the way how the art piece is made, sometimes that might give even more than just the subject in it. With these historical paintings I often seem to look at the costumes. Studying the smallest details of each gown and wondering how they were made. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This costume has raised lot of conversation among historical costumers, how is that black and white piece connected to the costume. I am also wondering about the heavy gold chains. If they are real gold, how does delicate woman like her have the strength to carry that much gold? And if they are not gold, what are they made of?<\/em><\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Katsokaa miten tarkasti taiteilija on kuvannut korujen yksityiskohtia ja pukukankaan kuvioita. Punainen kangas on selke\u00e4sti samettia, sen olemuksesta ei voi erehty\u00e4. \/
Look how precisely artist has pictured the details in jewelry and patterns on the fabrics. Red fabric is clearly velvet, you can’t make mistake on that. <\/em><\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

N\u00e4ist\u00e4 k\u00e4sineist\u00e4 saimme aikaan kiinnostavan keskustelun. On erikoista ett\u00e4 muut yksityiskohdat ovat hirve\u00e4n tarkasti maalatut, mutta k\u00e4sineiden viillokset sormusten kohdalla on tehty jotenkin ylimalkaisesti, kun taas alla olevat sormukset on tehty tarkasti. Jos k\u00e4sineet todella olivat niin tiukasti istuvat kuin maalaus antaa olettaa, niiden pukeminen sormuksineen mahtoi olla mielenkiintoista n\u00e4pertely\u00e4. \/
We managed to have quite interesting conversation about these gloves. It is slightly odd that other details are done such a pricise manner, but the slits on these gloves look a bit sloppy, and again the rings underneath have been painted very carefully. If gloves were as fittid as the painting suggests, putting them on with all the rings might have been interestingly fiddly. <\/em><\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

This lady is actually wearing something. Seethrough fabric has been tied on her shoulder, but doesn’t really cover anything at all. I am most interested, has there really been this thin, almost invisible fabric, or has artist just exaggerated a lot to make the female body more visible. <\/em><\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
