Jos voisin, ostaisin kaikki sukkahousunikin kirppiksilt\u00e4, mutta siell\u00e4 ei juuri koskaan tule vastaan itselleni sopivaa kokoa. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

My pet peeve is the bad durability of tights. I mean really, if tights last only couple hours while wearing them, there must be something wrong! I will never ever forget the documentary The Light bulb conspiracy, where they told how long time ago DuPont started downgrading the quality of their tights because longlasting tights didn’t sell enough, people never needed to replace them. Modern planned aging has gone too far. It just doesn’t suit with the ethical and environmentally sustainable consuming. If I could, I would thrift all my tights, but they hardly ever have my size is thrift stores or flea markets. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

So I decided to test them. I bought a pair of tights from supermarket and ordinary socks too. Because it seems that this Winter here on the border of Satakunta and Pirkanmaa is going to be quite snowless and mild, I think I will be ok for the rest of the season with these tights, if they last long enough. I “washed” them before use. That’s what the manufacturers instruct consumer to do to make them last as long as possible. I didn’t use any washing powder or liquid, so that’s why it’s in brackets. I haven’t noticed any difference between pre-washing and not washing. I have heard many times that Wolford, Falke and other brands are more longlasting, but quite honestly I am terrified to pay 30\u20ac for tights in the case they don’t last very long. And that’s beside the point anyway. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now the tights and socks have been in use for one week. If the tights would be 20 den I’m pretty sure they would be laddered by now. I will report in the blog how well they last and might make similar test to the 20 den tights later when weather gets warmer. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
