Itsen\u00e4isyysp\u00e4iv\u00e4n kunniaksi t\u00e4n\u00e4\u00e4n v\u00e4h\u00e4n kansallispuku-juttuja. Taisin mainita jo aiemmassa M\u00e4nts\u00e4l\u00e4-postauksessa ett\u00e4 olen t\u00e4n\u00e4 syksyn\u00e4 aloittanut pitsinnypl\u00e4ys-kurssin. Kurssi on nyt joulutauolla. Tavoitteeni on saada valmiiksi ennen kev\u00e4tt\u00e4 molemmat M\u00e4nts\u00e4l\u00e4n kansallispukuun kuuluvat p\u00e4\u00e4hinepitsit. Saattaa olla ett\u00e4 se on hiukan turhan kunnianhimoinen tavoite, sill\u00e4 kapeasta pitsist\u00e4 on valmiina vasta kolmannes, mutta yritys hyv\u00e4. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

T\u00e4m\u00e4 kapea pitsi josta aloitin, on ehk\u00e4 n\u00e4ist\u00e4 lopulta se hiukan ty\u00f6l\u00e4\u00e4mpi. Siin\u00e4 on monta sellaista kohtaa, jotka vaativat tarkkaa keskittymist\u00e4, jotta ei tee v\u00e4\u00e4rin. Leve\u00e4mm\u00e4ss\u00e4 pitsiss\u00e4 on yksinkertaista verkkopohjaa enemm\u00e4n ja monimutkaisia kuvioita v\u00e4hemm\u00e4n. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vaikka nypl\u00e4ys on omaan makuuni aivan hirve\u00e4n hidasta hommaa (olen luonteeltani sellainen, ett\u00e4 pit\u00e4\u00e4 saada \u00e4kki\u00e4 valmista)<\/strong>, olen aivan myyty t\u00e4m\u00e4n tekniikan edess\u00e4. Nypyl\u00f6iden heittely on melko rentouttavaa puuhaa ja se vaatii aivan eri tavalla keskittymist\u00e4 kuin muut kokeilemani k\u00e4sity\u00f6tekniikat. Silloin kun malli on yksinkertainen on ihan helppo katsoa samalla tv:t\u00e4, mutta kinkkisemm\u00e4n kohdan tullessa eteen, on parempi pit\u00e4\u00e4 tauko ja keskitty\u00e4 nypl\u00e4\u00e4miseen ihan ajan kanssa. Nypl\u00e4ys kehitt\u00e4\u00e4 siis k\u00e4rsiv\u00e4llisyytt\u00e4. Itse oman pitsin nypl\u00e4\u00e4minen auttaa my\u00f6s arvostamaan t\u00e4m\u00e4n taidon mestareita aivan uudella tavalla. Se ei ole kiireisen hommaa, joskin kun oikein innostuu niin tekisi jokaisena vapaana hetken\u00e4 mieli ihan vaikka vain minuutiksikin istua nypl\u00e4yksen \u00e4\u00e4reen tekem\u00e4\u00e4n muutamat ly\u00f6nnit. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kes\u00e4ll\u00e4 er\u00e4\u00e4ll\u00e4 lomareisullamme osuimme kierr\u00e4tyskeskukseen josta l\u00f6ysin hauskan sivup\u00f6yd\u00e4n. Se on kaksikerroksinen malli, jonka molemmat p\u00f6yt\u00e4tasot taittuvat pystyyn jotta se menee pienemp\u00e4\u00e4n tilaan ja voidaan nostaa sivuun. Nypl\u00e4ystyynyni sopii sen alemmalle puolipy\u00f6re\u00e4lle tasolle juuri kuin nakutettu. P\u00f6yd\u00e4st\u00e4 ei nyt t\u00e4h\u00e4n h\u00e4t\u00e4\u00e4n tullut kuvaa, mutta t\u00e4m\u00e4 k\u00e4tev\u00e4 taso palvelee nyt nypl\u00e4yskeskuksena. Is\u00e4nt\u00e4 viritteli siihen viel\u00e4 pienen spottivalon jonka avulla n\u00e4kee tarkasti nypl\u00e4t\u00e4 kaikki kinkkisemm\u00e4tkin kohdat. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

To celebrate Finnish independence day, let’s have some national costume stuff. I think I mentioned earlier in my post about my new M\u00e4nts\u00e4l\u00e4 region costume, that I have started bobbin lace course this Autumn. Course is now on Christmas leave. My goal is to finish both M\u00e4nts\u00e4l\u00e4 costume hat laces before Summer. It might be a bit too ambitious goal, because I only have about one third finished of the narrow lace, but I will try atleast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now when thinking about it, I think this narrow lace is actually more tricky to make. It has many bits which require quite a lot of concentration. Wider lace has more basic weaves and less tricky patterns. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Even though I think bobbin lace is really slow to me (my nature is to get everything done fast), I am pretty sold for it. Throwing the bobbins around is quite relaxing and it requires totally different level of concentration than any of my other handcrafting hobbies. When the pattern is simple, I can do it while watching tv, but when there is more difficult bits, I have to take a break and really think about it properly. So bobbin lace is also developing my patience. Trying it also makes you value the masters more. It is not a job for hasty person, even though when I get excited about it, I would love to sit there every free minute, doing couple of rows. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last Summer on one of our holiday trips we ended up in recycling center and found small side table. It is sort of double decker model, with both table surfaces folding, for easier storing. My bobbin pillow fits the lower half circle table top perfectly. I didn’t realize to take photo of it for this post, but it is now serving as my bobbin lace center. Hubby also installed small spotlight for me on it, so that I can see every little detail on my lace. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The black criss-cross-loop-mess in the middle is the trickiest bit on this lace. I had to seperately<\/em><\/strong>

Lace coming together. Trickiest bits are the sideways crown and those areas which look
thicker, they require more thinking. Net bases and winding thicker yarn are much more
