Hattuneulan tarkoitus oli kiinnitt\u00e4\u00e4 hattu kampaukseen ettei se tuulisella s\u00e4\u00e4ll\u00e4 lent\u00e4isi p\u00e4\u00e4st\u00e4. Hattuneula ei pysy lyhyiss\u00e4 hiuksissa vaan se on painettava nutturan sis\u00e4\u00e4n. Kun naisten hiukset alkoivat muodin my\u00f6t\u00e4 lyhenty\u00e4 eiv\u00e4tk\u00e4 nutturat en\u00e4\u00e4 olleet suosittuja, hattuneula lyheni ja muuttui pelk\u00e4ksi koristeeksi. Lopulta sen k\u00e4ytt\u00f6 loppui kokonaan. Silloin t\u00e4ll\u00f6in hattuneuloja kuitenkin bongailee kirpputoreilta, monesti aika huonokuntoisina. \nNow I’m going to show you something rare. Hat pin has become useless during the time. Yes, it was also decorative item, but it’s original function was to keep hat in place. Hat pin doesn’t stick in short hair but it needs to go through thick layer of long hair. When women’s hair started to get shorter by fashion hat pin became shorter and turned into only decorative piece. Finally it vanished completely. Occasionally you can find them in thift shops and car boot sales, quite often in bad shape. My collection consists three pins, one with celadon green glass (far left)<\/strong><\/span>, one with wax beads and rhinestones (far right)<\/strong><\/span> and one shaped like a flower in peach colour (in the middle)<\/strong><\/span>.
