Kukkapenkille tulee pituutta useampia metrej\u00e4 ja joudun perustamaan sen alusta l\u00e4htien, joten voi olla ett\u00e4 kaikki ei tapahdu kerralla. Aloitan penkin rakentamisen luultavasti kukkakaaresta. Etupihallekin tarttis tehr\u00e4 jotain, vaikka mit\u00e4\u00e4n isoja istutuksia en sinne haluakaan, mutta seinustan kiveys on kesken. Toivon ett\u00e4 olen ensikes\u00e4n\u00e4 sen verran paremmassa jaksamisessa ett\u00e4 saan aloitettua seinustan siistimist\u00e4. Ennen talven tuloa olin viel\u00e4 ajatellut istuttaa kaverilta saamani kuunliljat, sek\u00e4 hankkia kaariportin pieleen k\u00f6ynn\u00f6skasvin, ehk\u00e4p\u00e4 k\u00f6ynn\u00f6skuusaman. Haaveilen edelleen my\u00f6s siit\u00e4 kirsikkapuusta ja ainakin yhdest\u00e4 uudesta hy\u00f6tykasvilavasta vanhan lis\u00e4ksi. Haluan kasvattaa enemm\u00e4n sy\u00f6t\u00e4v\u00e4\u00e4, mutta se vaatii enemm\u00e4n vaivaa. Kes\u00e4kurpitsat eiv\u00e4t t\u00e4n\u00e4 vuonna kasvaneet lainkaan. Kaveri ehdotti syyksi sit\u00e4 ett\u00e4 en ollut kev\u00e4\u00e4ll\u00e4 kalkinnut kasvilavaa lainkaan. <\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\nThere is already Autumn in the air in the mornings. I still refuse to let Summer go, because half of my Summer holiday is yet to come. However I am already planning my Autumn gardening, because most flowers in our yard are already finishing blooming. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Open Gardens event in July gave me lots of inspiration. I was finally able to decide what to do to our little yard. Long flowerbed will go around the whole yard, except next to the house wall. It will be slowly filled with flowers which bloom from Spring to Autumn. Now we mostly have Midsummer bloomers. Except scilla, but I have no idea how that’s going to be next spring, the flowerbed has been turned around and mostly emptied now. Next I have to check if I have to make some sort of official announcement about the green house, or is it enough that I just make agreement with neighbours. Landlady already gave her permission. Spring, when nothing grows yet, might be the best time to build. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\nThe area where I am planning the flowerbed to be is now mostly wild. There are all sorts of wild plants from lady’s mantle to nettle, hey and clovers. On the other hand I do like wild flowers, but there is more of those growing just on the other side of the fence. Whole flowerbed is going to be several meters long and I have to start from scratch, so it is quite likely that I’m not able to make it in one go. I probably will start from the flower arch. Front yard also needs some doing, even though I’m not planning anything big, but the cobble stones next to wall needs finishing. And I was also planning on taking the maidenhair inside for the Winter and try to keep it alive. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Last Summer was pretty bad for gardening, and even this Summer I haven’t had that much energy to do much. I have moved most flowers away from the wall, but that’s it. I hope I will be a bit more up to it to do more next year and start tidying up the wall area. Before the Winter I was planning on planting lilies I got from my friend and perhaps to buy some sort of winding plant for the arch. I was thinking of some sort of winding honeysuckle. I am also still dreaming of that cherry tree and perhaps one more grow box. I would love to grow more food, but that requires more effort. My zucchini didn’t grow at all this Summer. My friend suggested that the reason for that might have been because I didn’t put any lime on the grow box in the Spring. But it’s not too serious. I’m not overly sad if this Villa Rust experimental garden doesn’t provide desired result. On the other side of the door is this tiny flowerbed, which, quite honestly is too
close to the wall. I might have to get rid of the hey. It is too overpowering and lilies

View from the back door to the left with gate. Between path and fence is peony which is not doing very well, it is not growing. I don’t know what to do with it. Anyhow, I want to turn that area between fence and path into large flowerbed. Now it’s quite overgrown with nettles, dandelions and so on. On the other side of the arch I would like to have winding honeysuckle next to the Burning love. I would like to create mossy path, to remove grass between the stones and replace with moss. Also the edges of the grass requires tidying. Ferns in the corner are not growing well (for some reason everything except rhubarb and soapwort are not noing so great) and are suffocated by clover and other plants. Bush in the corner is going to be ripped out, it spreads too fast. Plan is to make the tiny green house into the corner. Nettles have been offering home to butterflies for the past two summers. I love to harvest stinging nettle from my own yard for food, but this bush hasn’t been available for long time, it’s full of caterpillars. Iris which grows in the middle of the nettles is going to my colleague soon. Behind rhubarb there is white Aquilegia, it would be nice to be able to move that somewhere else. This area is a bit of a bother. I had to move plants away from the wall, but the apartment building is not willing to pay for the sand and root matt for it. According to house manager it’s not needed. So if we want to tidy it up and get rid of the dry dirt and dust, we have to pay it for ourselves. It would be possibly gravel, sand, stones, tiles etc. Some sort of tiles would be nicest option, but we are not willing to spend loads of money because we are only renting this. Perhaps concrete tiles made with mold would be nicest and cheapest.
