Some people swear by the cashmere comb, but I prefer pilling remover myself. Third option would be disposable razor. Problem with razor is, that garment has to be spread really evenly and tight and treatment must be extremely careful. Otherwise you might end up cutting holes on the knit. I use the razor only if absolutely necessary.<\/p>\n When I was studying to be seamstress, teacher told us that best way to remove pilling, is to cut it off. Cutting creates precise finish and leaves the new fiber ends inside the knit. When pulling the\u00a0 pilling off by comb or fingers, that lifts the fibers up and pulls the new ends out of the knit\u00a0 for the pilling to start forming. Our teacher told us that when she has been using the pilling remover regularly, it had reduced the amount of pilling over time.<\/p>\n Cashmere comb is recommended for smooth, tightly woven knits. It is not suitable for fluffy or loosely knit materials, because it is quite sharp and might rip soft, delicate knit. Also pilling remover is recommended only for smooth surfaces. Or atleast must be extremely careful when using it on lace knits or cables. And not at all for loosely woven and fluffy materials. Rotating blades might cut yarns on those. I used pilling remover for one half of my cardigan and cashmere comb on the other half. \nI still prefer the actual pilling remover method better. I like the very smooth surface it leaves. However I could use wool comb for knits which can’t handle remover, like cable knits and so on. Only time will tell if the combed side of the cardigan starts pilling again sooner than the other side.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/a>

After combing the left side for second time, this is what I got, small ball of fluff on the bottom. Upper fluff is from one pilling remover treatment, done to the right side front\u00a0 and also the right side sleeve. It is more dustlike fluff, when the combing result is more actual fibers.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/a>
Final result. Left side is combed twice, right side treated once with pilling remover. There is still visible difference on the surfaces, however the left side looks much better after second combing. Left side is also fluffier and softer to touch and right side is smoother.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
